Great Camera..Excellent Low Light Performance!
Bought this as the default travel camera to replace my aging Canon A590IS - though was a good camera at it's time it's poor low light photos let me down many times. I did my research before buying this so knew exactly what to expect.. but boy it still impressed me with the superb photo quality(for 12MP) and exceptional low light photo quality.I visited National Museum of USAF over the weekend and took nearly 500 photos where almost all of the exhibits are indoor and under artificial light. Shot only in Auto mode with no-flash and it produced great photos with low noise even at ISO 1600 and I'm really glad to see the results which exceeded my expectations.I ran with ECO mode on and battery held for nearly 300 shots(only less than 10 shots with flash thoug, and no GPS). I had my extra battery which came in handy anyway. On the down side as numerous reviewers indicated the battery indicator problem is there and I didn't have time for firmware update. Position of the flash is a little annoyance as I'm still not used to keep my finger away from it. Apart from that smart auto mode incorrectly set the scene to Macro mode for few items but I wouldn't call out it as problem.. as the camera does a good job detecting the scene most of the times.Overall this is a great camera for it's price with great photo quality and nice 20x optical zoom. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an affordable travel camera.

Great camera but the wifi is a little bit harder then expected to set up and use
Great camera! I previously had a cheaper camera that I used for seven years, and it was finally breaking down so I got this one. I am very pleased with it. It has a very good zoom, something I wanted in my new camera, and great picture taking quality. It is also great for getting action shots. I have used it a few times to take shots of my mom during her bike races and it captures really good photos of her in action. People have mentioned they were annoyed by where the flash is located, but I haven't had a problem with it coming on when I don't want to. The wifi technology is a little hard to use though. I thought that I could click a button on the camera and it would send it to my phone or tablet. But you have to install the program off the CD, registrar your product on the canon website, create a canon account, and then download the canon app on your phone or tablet. I am still trying to get the app to work because right now says a communication error has occurred when I try to log in. I visited the Google Play store and many other people are having this problem. I wrote a review, and hopefully they will get it fixed and I can start sending my photos from the camera to my tablet. The video quality quickly drains the battery, so if you plan on taking a lot of videos, this is not the camera to buy. After charging it up to full, and just trying to take one video, it went down to zero battery. But if you are looking to mainly take photos, then don't worry about it.Overall this camera is great. Just the upgrade I wanted from my old camera.

After reading some of the camera reviews I decided to give the SX280 the nod. I tried it out in various lighting conditions using only the auto setting and was impressed with the quality of the pictures.. The average person does not understand relationships to shutter speed, aperture and ios settings so I was looking for a camera that takes great pictures on Auto. This camera fills the bill and the Stabilization Control is outstanding. People who complain about fuzzy pictures probably don't have this feature turned on. Even though the pixel count isn't as high as the SX700, the reviews I read indicated the pictures were better. When more pixels are put into the sensor without increasing the sensor size , there is less light available to each pixel. The larger the pixels, the more light you can collect. The more light you can catch, the better your image can be. I was impressed enough with this camera that I ordered one for my wife who pretty much relies on her iPhone. C/NET has reviews of both camera's, and even though the SX700 has a 30X lens I can't see carrying a tripod in order to take advantage of the long zoom. Sort of defeats the purpose of a pocket camera. Buying on Amazon gives you the ability to return a product that is unsatisfactory, so you can't go wrong with this camera.
