BLACK+DECKER The Classic Iron, F67E-T, Aluminum Soleplate, Steam or Dry Ironing, 7 Temperature Settings, Anti-Drip

These are nice classic irons. Not too big but with a bit of heft. Even with continuous use quilt-making they hold up well and gave a ling life. But, the steam button is on the fragile side and when I ordered a new one it wasn’t packaged properly causing the button to be busted off. Grrrr! Had to send it back which is inconvenient. Thus, decided to go into Walmart and buy one off the shelf. I needed it now.

Was so tired of expensive "better brand" irons not lasting....something always went wrong with them. We had one of these at our shore house when I was a kid and you can't kill these! So I bought a new one. It's heavy, so it does the work instead of you having to take a running start to put enough pressure on an iron to get wrinkles out. It steams and heats up...that's it...no bells and whistles. It is smaller and so the water needs to be filled more often, but it works great! I love it! Sometimes it's better to go with the "old fashioned" things to get the job done right.

Very nicely made, works really well. No cheap plastic, sturdy cord, heats evenly. Have been using regularly for a few months now so I feel comfortable recommending.

Bought this Black & Decker iron mostly for sewing but also general ironing of clothes. I had a previous iron made specifically for sewing but after less than 2 years it started leaking and the steam button broke, so I started looking for a new one. This Black & Decker one was old school, no frills, heavier weight and I’d heard some good things about it so decided to try. I filled it with distilled water (surprisingly the manual actually suggests regular tap water) and ran it over a scrap piece first, since some reviews mentioned getting black factory residue on the first few swipes. It worked well and produces plenty of steam, with clear guides for which heat settings produce steam and which don’t, and a steam on/off button. Got wrinkles out of cotton canvas no problem with a single pass, and is nice and heavy. I appreciate that it has an auto-shut off if left on its side or soleplate after 30 seconds, or if left standing after 8 minutes. Some cons: • Despite the test piece I did end up getting a black smear on a white t-shirt - I then noticed that there was residue all around the sides of the plate which I had to wipe and scrub off with a paper towel. I really wish they’d cleaned it up better during manufacturing so it would actually be ready to use out of the box. Don’t iron anything important right away and make sure it’s wiped clean! • The sole plate has a visibly bumpy texture to it and doesn’t glide as smoothly as my old iron - I would be a bit worried about ironing delicate fabrics like silk or satin with this that could potentially snag or run. • The cord placement makes it so that that when standing, it gets bent. That’s gonna be a weak point over time. Surely they could have designed that better? • There’s no spray nor manual steam burst option I wanted this because it was no frills but I admit I miss some of the “frills” of my previous irons - for example, the fill tank on this doesn’t have a door to close so if you angle it the wrong way water spills out. My old iron also had a function that beeped to let you know it was still on after a few minutes standing - this one has a light but doesn’t beep so you have to rely on the auto shut-off if you accidentally leave it on. Ultimately I went into this thinking it’d be a great old-school iron but between the factory grease, rough-feeling soleplate, and cord placement I would say this is only $30 for a reason. It's working well and I'll continue using it for now but will probably seek out something nicer in the future.

I like this iron. It reminds me of an iron my mother used to iron my clothes with when I was young. Such great memories to see in a product of great value. It is worth the money to invest in this product.

I want you to know I saved all the ironing this week for the arrival of this iron. This is one of the most inexpensive irons offered here at Amazon. It's also better than the others. After one overpriced T-Fal and one even more overpriced Rowenta, I am convinced that 1) some things are better left unchanged and 2) One should never fix that which is not broken. Therefore, I have returned to my ironing roots. This is like the iron I grew up using. This is the type of iron that never let me down. Not fussy. Not awkward. The right size. Not built like it belongs on a spaceship. And most of all........Not made entirely of cheap plastic. I can honestly say I am sorry I wasted my money on the expensive irons because none of them handled, ironed or made me feel as comfortable as Ye Old Black and Decker The-Way-It-Was-And-The-Way-It-Should-Stay Steam Iron. It does what an iron is supposed to do and, if placed on its heel (the way I learned how to iron), it doesn't shut off on you 15 times while you are trying to iron a batch of clothing and want to stop and do something else for a minute. If given the choice, I would really revert back to the old days when irons didn't have an automatic shutoff at all. I mean, if you are that ditzy that you can't remember to turn the iron off, well I honestly don't know what to tell you. I'm sure our lawmakers, instead of doing something useful, made some kind of law about irons automatically shutting off so that the person using it can be tortured. This iron does have an auto shutoff, and it's very fast and annoying if you put the soleplate directly on the ironing board, which is an invitation to scortching something. However, if rested on its heel, you have 8 minutes. This is enough time to adjust things or answer the phone without returning to an iron that's not hot enough. I agree with other comments that this is also a heavy iron. Correct me if I am wrong, but aren't irons SUPPOSED to be heavy enough to press out wrinkles? A heavy iron means you don't have to push and do the work when pressing seams or things like jeans. And if you are a cat owner, you understand when I say that I know for a fact that, sooner or later, your 20-pound cat Rodney is going to knock that iron right off the board. Okay, I mean MY 20-pound cat Rodney. At least with this iron and its steel base, you won't be sweeping up a heap of plastic pieces if it hits the floor -- and chances are good it will still do the job, just like the old days. I don't know this for certain. Yet. But heck, it's a lot less painful paying $19 bucks for another iron than it is buying another useless plastic oversized Rowenta. Listen, I would prefer not to iron at all, but barring that possibility, at least now I own an iron that does what it is supposed to do without spitting, sputtering and switching itself off every time I walk to the closet to get another hanger. Get this iron, learn to rest it on its heel, and put yourself out of your ironing misery. And save yourself some bucks besides.

Nice solid heavy iron, however I find the handle does get semi hot to the touch.

The product was used by me in the USA and is extremely good. However, it works on 110V and not India voltage compatible. For that reason, I had to return the product and the seller was gracious enough to issue refund.
