Q: Is it voice activated?

I couldn't answer that for sure. I always turned it on manually to guarantee that it was recording.

Q: What are the dimensions? Is it really 8.4in long by 6.6in wide by 4.6in thick?

No it's not. The correct dimensions are 4 1/2"×1 1/2""×3/4"".

Q: Does this work well for singing/voice lessons?

I would think so… I got it because my great uncle has Alzheimer’s and is alone in a nursing home a couple states away. So we “write letters” to each other using it. He older and with Alzheimer’s his words get jumbled and sometimes he slurs, but this picks up his voice really well and I’m able to understand him.

Dictated to it downloaded the file to the built-in USB into speech recognition software.I lo and behold the typed document was created.
