Your dog will love it however I only use a little bit for a topper
I use it for a topper for my dog food because she was getting very bored with just the regular one.

Quality Chunks of Meat with Brown Gravy - perfect Kibble Topper!
Merrick's canned dog food received high marks on the dog food reviewers board for quality. Previously I bought it online from a pet website but was pleased to find many of the same choices for a much better price on Amazon. I have 2 senior dogs & like to add just a little wet with their kibbles. I usually get Merricks Brats N Tots but decided to try the Steak Tips. I like getting chunks of meat with a bit of gravy so I can parse out a single meat chunk with a little gravy into each dog's bowl on top of their kibbles. That way they get the crunch & teeth cleaning benefits of dry kibbles but with the meaty 'fun' of wet. A case of 12 will last ~ a month that way (I have a 45 lb shepherd mix & 25 lb terrier mix). The other day on a pet vacation, I bought a normal can of dog food from the local grocery but the 'spamness' of the mix looked revolting - plus I had to scrap the stuff off the spoon with my finger - yuk. I prefer the Brats to the Steak Tips - it seemed like there were more meatballs in each can than steak tips. However, neither dog has complained.

CONSTANT INCONSISTENCY OF CAN CONTENTS!
Dogs eat it fine but the problem is the constant inconsistency of the product. One can will be packed with meat to the point that there is barely any gravy. The next can will have 70% gravy and 20% meat. The next can will have the right proportion of meat to gravy but the can is only 1/2 full. I assume the cans are filled by machine so I think Merrick needs to be monitoring how much of each meat/gravy and the volume that is going into each can. Doesn't appear that they have a quality control program in place.

Great food -- big problem with dented cans
Of the Merrick flavors we've tried so far, this is by far my dog's favorite. I use it as a topping for his dry food. Unfortunately, there is a continual problem with dented cans. Sometimes only a few cans are dented and sometimes almost every can is dented. Sometimes the dents are relatively minor and sometimes they are so bad I'm afraid to give the food to my dog. Whoever is packing the cans into the 12-pack packaging has to be selecting dented cans and packing them that way because the packaging has always been fine. Not sure if it's Amazon's fault or Merrick's.
