I replaced all three of my 25 year old under cabinet 18” fluorescent units with these new GE instant start, low profile, energy efficient units. My electrician easily installed them in 45 mins. My family (fortunately) loves my choice. At eye level they are so thin you can’t see them, they start instantly without the slightest flicker, and give off a warm soothing light, just perfect for a kitchen. Highly recommended!

I owned a light the same size as this one before mounted in my kitchen under the cabinet over the sink. It lasted for a long time so I ordered this one to replace it. I am very pleased with it's ease of installation and amount of light it gives off. It is perfect for the job I am using it for. The metal construction of this light is much better than the old plastic one I replaced. The bulb is smaller than the one in the light which I replaced but gives off more light and comes on instantly without flickering. I would recommend this light to others. .

The lights are fine, had an electrician wire them in - but one bulb didn't work! The end was loose and the gas evidentally leaked out. So I have four fixtures and three lights! The bulbs are extremely difficult to find - especially the warm white! I am a bit disappointed.

We love our news lights. They were fairly easy to install the only thing we didn't like was the screws to fasten the light fixture to the bottom of the cabinet came thru the cabinet and the sharp tip of the screw would catch your hand or whatever you have in the cabinet. So we used very little bolts instead but now there is a nut in the bottom of each of my cabinets. Atleast it is hidden behind the cabinet door, but doesn't make a very smooth bottom of the cabinet. Overall tho I am very happy with the light. They give off plenty of light. They will do exactly what I need/want them to do!

steel frame. Frame has punch-outs for routing wiring and includes conduit-female connector. Room in body for wiring/nuts but compact body. Caveat: this is a f10t5 bulb, meaning plenty bright but has the new fluorescent standard plug.

Provides great light and it's convenient to have the switch on the lamp. I use it as a desk lamp to do homework as I'm a college student. I do not have this direct wired; it is very easy to make it plug in. I ordered a proper a/c wire for the correct watts and amps then just snipped off the side that was made to plug into your device (it was the same as computer plugs) and wired it up. It is now a perfectly working lamp with a plug wire.

I bought the 18 incher. The space provided within the compartment is grossly inadequate. EXTREMELY DIFFICULT TO FIT 9 wires (3 White, 3 Black, 3 Ground plus a ballast) in a series of 4 fluorescent lights, one of which I replaced with this device. This fiasco has promoted me to replace all under cabinet lights in my homes with LED only. Time to step up folks, LED is clearly a better choice and much simpler to install.

I tried another 18" flourescent fixture that was a GE direct wire and prime but the bulb was much thinner than this one and the wiring we had would not accommodate that fixture. Then I tried Lowe's. They only carry LEDs in the 18" size. There were only 2 wires in the fixture but our wiring had three wires. Besides I prefer to use the plant and aquarium flourescent bulb because I have some houseplants there. Finally I read the size bulb of the unit being replaced and found this one. I ordered on Saturday and this arrived the same day as my prime order did and finally it went right in quickly without problems. I didn't realize there are differences in bulb diameters and that your wiring might not accommodate different kinds of bulbs or sizes.

Provides more light than I expected, which is good. Easy to install. It must be hard wired in. I didn't really need the switch but it does work fine.

UPDATE 2017 06 08: I purchased a second one. Amazon does not let me leave a fresh review for the same product. I liked the first one enough to get another, and it arrived a couple of days ago. It suffers from the same problem as the first one in that the wires, in particular the black wire, is just too short. Otherwise, it is a good light, and I would recommend it. ____________________________ Fine once it was installed. Over-rode the switch and attached to ceiling wires. Problem is that the internal wires are too short, resulting in them not holding together in the cap. So, you get it installed, then have to remove everything to reconnect the wires which have come apart from the need to angle the fixture while installing. In the end, I used an extension and connected the light with success. As for brightness and other factors, it's fine.

Good lamp easy to install. The bulb on the other on is a slim one that is hard to find and very expensive to replace.

Buy this light....great quality at a good price. This works well, easy to install. Thumbs Up GE, a nice glow AND QUIET operation.
