You can't run from a prophecy
This...this is the embodiment of a heroic tradegy! Volume 13 has brought the story to a whole new level and I don't know who is going to survive it. Every time I read a new volume it feels like I fall in love with the series all over again!Thank you for the wonderful volume Fujino Omori, the story ended on a perfect note and I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in the next volume! I thought the prophecy lines were beautifully written! Thank you Suzuhito Yasuda for the phenomenal art! You always spice up the scenes with your illustrations!

A definitive turn into far darker waters, a must read
DanMachi has been categorized as a "light hearted" novel since its penning, however the author has been slowly transitioning towards a darker, more mature tone for the last 4 volumes. It all comes to a head in volume 13.This volume is a departure towards very graphic violence and death, struggles for survival in impossible situations and the characters are faced with mortal danger at every turn. As powerful as he is, Bell's mettle is tested against the most terrible opponent the dungeon has produced, and the writing marvelously captures the despair and powerlessness he experiences, leaving the reader with the greatest cliffhanger ending so far in the series.A must read but reader be warned, the series has taken a turn towards the "dark" side, a move that in my opinion adds so much more value to an already great series.

A must read
A common saying in this series is how the dungeon never gives up, even at the worst times, the dungeon will find a way to make it worse. I felt actual despair reading this one, kept me at the edge of my seat reading page after page hoping something would happen to alleviate this feeling of despair I felt. All I can say is I am lost for words how good this one was and a excited for volume 14

The novel needs to grow...
I really love danmachi novels. I fell in love with its world, Orario City, the dungeon, its mysteries, the familias system, and their characters of course. However, with this volume I feel the novel is repeating the same old formula: The fight is like the volume 3, and the volume 14 looks similar to volume 5 (though I haven't read it yet). The level of power of Bell increases for no reason, just for the purpose of beating the current enemy, and the healing in this volume is absurd, it is impossible to die with a healing system so broken. The enemy was awesome: different, powerful, unexpected, a real killer. It was a foe our bellowed characters shouldn't have defeated, but the Autor doesn't respect the power scale he sets for the novel. It would have been better if they were rescued for a strong group of Xenos or adventurers (yeah, it would have been a big deus ex machina but still better)My biggest problem is that the Catastrophe hasn’t had any real consequences for our characters so far: no deaths (just anonymous deaths), no missing limbs, no true despair... nothing at all, just the same "serious" injures they will heal in no time.People keep telling the novel is becoming dark, but I cannot see that whatsoever. In the novel Bell is growing without any reason, he has not lost anything important, just got scared by a minotaur and lost a fight with no consequences, he needs a real shake to keep growing, no the same old formula we have read in previous volumes.I’ll keep buying and reading the novels hoping it will get better. The Xenos arc was awesome and that arc is the reason I have faith in the Autor. I’m waiting for that arc that can become the inflexion point that puts this story in the next level… Maybe volume 15.

About average for the series
The back half was mostly a single, overly long fight scene. Other than that it's a solid entry in the series but nothing really special.

A terror & despair unlike any other!
Got goosebumps from reading this story, the terror and despair of the situation unfolding is well crafted that it hooked me in and put me on the edge of my seat wondering what is to be the fate of our young rabbit foot and his companions, as they face a glimpse of the true terror of the dungeon.

Like the series but its becoming a slog....
I would give this a 4 if i didnt love the series. I loved books 10 and 11 but 12 and 13 dont really have the same effect on me. They feel like a large amount of set up and frustration.

Looking forward to next one
It's a continuation of the last novel and at the end it leaves everything and everyone up in the air making you want to read the next. Its basically getting darkerSpoilersAt the end of this novel bell and Lyu are on floor 32 lyu unconscious and bell has injuries. Mari is floor 29(alone and safe) the other team is floor 27 injured low supplies and stuck with a floor boss without its strongest fighters. So 14 is either setting up someone to die either that or floor 27 pull a rabbit out of the hat.Now I have no idea if all floor bosses have respawn or just 27 but bell has to carry lyu to minimum floor 29 get mari and have her carry him to floor 27 and rush to them. Now I can only assume this is where Cassandra rising sun dream comes in in which bell will find a geyser thank to his luck stat and ride it with mari to get there quicker and appear like a sun over there head while he firebolts the boss.End spoilersVolume 14 is going to be a race against time and I cant wait to see his status after this and he is just a new level 4 with stats at 0 and he hasn't had to fight so many bosses alone before

Best entry yet
Danmachi becomes much much darker as Bell is pushed to his absolute limits and then further. I e always thought as danmachi as rather soft but this entry proves that the danger adventurers face in the dungeon is much more real and cruel than anything the gods can fathom - this felt more like goblin slayer/predator than the happy go lucky danmachi were used to and thank god for that! This series just keeps getting better with each entry!

Only 1 complaint..
If you've gotten this far into the story, #13 isn't anything more than a continuation.Same name, same faces, Bell goes deeper as the blurb mentions..Only complaint anyone who has read to this point can have, is with regards to how long the delay is between books.Finished 1-13 main story, 1-9 sword oratoria and 1-3 in Familia chronicle in the space of 6 weeks, and like any good drug, it's highly addictive. I need more!
