So. I bought this carabiner to use on my horse stalls since my horse likes to be Houdini. They're great and hold strong.

I use this to connect my dog to her lead out back so she doesn't jump the fence when she is outside. It has stood up to continuous outdoor conditions quite well and is able to put up with my dogs abuse without a problem. The latching and pivot mechanism is not easily jammed despite being caked in mud and left out in the rain.

I was using a cheap carabiner in my weight lifting machine to attach the hand grips. Though it never broke, it gave me agita as it was only a matter of time before it failed. I ordered this to beef up the connection. It arrived the next day (Kudos to the seller). Unfortunately the way the latch works there is a half-inch lip on the small side of the opening. I guess I could grind it down, but that defeats the purpose of buying a beefy link. They are cheap enough, I ordered a smaller one.

This is actually way overkill for what I needed but i should never need another. I have two tiny dogs and pull them around in a beach wagon because dog strollers are beneath their dignity but I need to be able to keep them from jumping out. I have car restraints so I attach them to this carabiner and it to the wagon frame. Dogs might jump out but they can't go anywhere!
