Easy to install if you follow the instructions. 3 screws needed, not included. All you have to do is put two screws 3 1/2" apart on the wall, let them extend about an inch or so. Hang the mailbox on these two screws. Mark and insert a screw into the center hole for the third screw-this is what holds it in place and keeps it from falling off the wall. Tighten all screws so they JUST seat to the metal, do not overtighten. Yes, the back will not be flush to the wall but the sides will be. No need to add wood or anything else as others have suggested. That's it! Easy peasy. As far as the quality, I think it is great. I looked at some other mailboxes at Lowes for twice the price and the lids were lightweight and looked like they could bend easily. This lid is nice and sturdy and seems like it will hold up. Yes, it's small, but if that's the size you want I think you will be pleased. The only thing I wish it had was a mail flag! :(

I’m very impressed with this product and glad I bought it. The mailbox in my home was really old and rusty. I hung up on the two that were already there and it was 100% better looking nicer and more secure for my mail in bad weather here. It’s made really well. The materials are solid. Very attractive.

This is great for a home that doesn't have much space where you may need to attach a mailbox to the house. its small but adequately fits large letters but manila like envelopes size items would need to be slightly folded if they can be. I could some small first class packages fitting in this just fine. I purchased this though not for our home but for my daughters pretend Paris cafe. I wanted one that was smallish but not kids size small and this was perfect. I thought it would be fun for her and her sister to pretend to deliver mail to each other. I spray painted it hot pink. I have seen my daughters put their fake food and stuff it fullwidth other toys and it has held up just fine to them and other children. Not sure if that helps for someone who is using it outside but it sure worked great for their playroom.

Bought this to hold the monthly payments to my gardener. Looks really nice and is a decent gauge of sheet metal. The black finish is nicely applied and it's a nice little box. Unfortunately, unless you stick a piece of wood on the back and mount that to your wall, you won't be able to properly open the lid. The box has an indent where the wood is supposed to go and it makes perfect sense but does add to the complexity of the project. There are screw holes in the back but you can't just screw directly into your target unless you mount it in a way that the lid hinge on the back of the lid is clear. As the lid is lifted, it actually extends past the back of the box. Thus the need for a backer board. Still glad I bought it. Just need to get around to cutting up a backer board and actually mounting it!

Great standard mailbox. I bought (12) of these so my review covers all of them. All (12) that I received were quality workmanship. All had the emblem in the box in a plastic bag that you attach to the outside of it. I used these boxes for amazing race markers so the holes in the back to mount and the size was important. These mailboxes do hold standard mail. If you have a catalog the top lid will not close. All boxes were solid black with no imperfections - great quality assurance. All these mailboxes were used repeatedly by hundreds of people over the course of three days and there were no issues. These mailboxes were also exposed to weather elements with no issues. The mailboxes do not easily dent and our made of quality material.
