The best PC I've ever owned, with one minor complaint
My Asus ROG g750jh was showing its age. After I bought that computer, which was extremely awesome for its time, I knew I could only stick with Asus computers. They're extremely good quality, hardy, and powerful. Now, my g750jh was uh.. a desktop replacer that weighed like fifteen pounds, so it was anything but portable. Six years later, while it was still running strong I had the money to get something else, so I did. I got this guy. I had been eyeing the ROG Zephyrus GX701 for a while now. The price made me cringe, but when I saw the black friday sale I hopped right on it. I now had the computer for a few days, and here's my verdict: For gaming, as well as standard everyday use, this thing is insanely powerful. Frankly, having access to such power in a PC is a little scary. For reference, in the simplest terms: I can run Minecraft with Ultra Shaders and x512 texture packs and it just doesn't hecking care. Still runs at like, 30-50 fps, depending on where I'm at. Now, I don't really play minecraft but I really wanted to see how far I could push the graphics card, and I was not disappointed. This thing is insanely fast. From shutdown to startup, it wakes up in less than 3 seconds. The size of this guy is nice, too. Yeah, it's a 17 inch laptop, but it's crazy thin and it feels super compact. I can sit down on the couch with it in my lap or fly with it and not worry about it being too heavy or cumbersome. The battery life is excellent, too. Lasts about four hours with my current settings, give or take. I haven't tried gaming without it being plugged in, though. This is a nice computer. The power of this thing, the compact nature of it, the DISPLAY (Oh god the display is amazing), and the little quirks like the volume nob are awesome. The one little complaint I have, though, is that this computer only has one headset jack - not a separate audio and headphone jack. I know this is a modern computer so I should expect it to be compact and all, but it forced me to have to buy a USB headset so I could actually talk to my friends. Not to say the computer doesn't come with its own microphone, but I'd rather not have to have my friends worry about the train going by a couple of blocks over. Still, I guess it makes sense for me to have to upgrade my headset into the 21st century, but I'm going to miss my old one since it obviously wasn't broken. All in all, awesome computer.

Solid gaming laptop
I waited 2 months to post a review to make sure there were no issues. So far the laptop has performed wonderfully. It can run any current game at max settings. The laptop is very well built. It did come with a lot of stickers on it, which peeled off fairly easily. If there are stickers on the fan area of your laptop, wait till it heats up and they will peel of much easier. The screen looks great and has thin bezels due to Asus removing the webcam and packing it separately. I didn't mind this feature as I don't have use for a webcam. To note, there is still a mic built into the monitor. I thought the keyboard placement would be weird but I actually don't mind it at all. It took about a day to get used to it and now I actually prefer it. I use a wireless mouse with the laptop, so I have no use for the track pad. I undervolted the CPU via throttlestop and also undervolted the GPU via a voltage curve on afterburner. My stable temps after an hour of so of gaming with the fans on balanced mode are about 80c on the cpu and 70c on the gpu which isn't bad for a laptop, especially considering how thin this one is. If you are curious on how to do this, just google "8750h throttlestop" and go from there. The fans do crank up to an audible "whoosh" after awhile but it doesn't bother me. Gaming laptops have come quite a ways. I definitely recommend the Zephyrus S in any configuration, solid laptop.

Too Many Issues - Not Ready for Prime Time
When I got this laptop, I tried using the HDMI output to play YouTube videos on an external monitor. The video and audio played on the laptop and on the external monitor only the audio played. The video was frozen. I called ASUS tech support twice and got no resulution to this issue. It still exists. Issue two involves the screen all of a sudden going from normal, full brightness to a screen dark in the center and brighter on the left and right sides. This issue has not been resolved. Issue three occured yesterday, I noticed that the plastic bezel surrounding the screen was bulging and separating from the screen. See the attached photo. Maybe this separation is related to the second issue. I wish I had contacted Amazon within the forst 30 days to request a return of this computer. I am now stuck with it and have to send it in for servicing to see if the numerous issues can be rectified. So much for quality control on a $3300 laptop.

Thinnest 17 inch laptop in the world, and with G-Sync too.
This is my first impression, will update as I get more time with it....... It just arrived 5 days early and it doesn't disappoint (thank you Amazon). The first thing that struck me was the high quality of both packaging and build. And It's very light in the hand for its screen size. The touch pad is on the right of the keyboard and doubles as the numeric pad. It feels narrow and awkward initially but becomes second nature after an hour or so (i'm right handed). But to be honest, whoever buys a 17" gaming laptop will definitely be using a mouse with it. I live in a dusty environment that plagued my old ROG G73JH but thankfully this laptop comes with 2 fans equipped with anti-dust technology. Under load they are audible in a quite room but once the game sound kicks in you won't notice them. The large screen, GPU and G-sync do drain battery life but thankfully Asus added a feature to disable all that at the touch of a button. (noticed many reviewers fail to mention that G-sync drains more battery life when comparing this laptop to a non-G-sync laptop like the MSI GS75 for example). will update tomorrow with gpu-z and 3dmark scores/screen shots

This is not g sync version, not as described. This is the HDR400 version which is useless. You won’t be able to switch between G-Sync and Optimus mode, which means for some of games you lose performance due to the Optimus mode.

Amazing laptop, tons of power and easy settings to change from gaming performance to just windows applications. Bought an open box, came and couldn't tell anyone else has ever touched it.

Listing is for GX701GX-XB78, but the exact model received is GX701GXH-XB78, the extra H is for HDR (confirmed via bios). However there's a big G Sync sticker on the panel suggesting it's a G Sync panel but it's not! Big mess up on Asus' side, not even they can figure out what's what! Confirmed by missing G Sync option in Nvidia controls and in Asus' own Armoury Crate.

Pro: - the design is slick and very good looking - The graphic is good, can't really tell the difference as the most game is only 1080p Con: - Too expensive, compared to other brands this is overpriced. - Performance is not the best out of the market. - Might be too heavy for some and not suitable as every day carry the laptop - Not that fast
