I got the 14TB for my game collection (300+ on steam) and the performance is great, good load times though due to the size sometimes it takes a long time for steam to preallocate space for the games. It’s intermittent though. Has consistent read and write speeds. I’ve gotten over 300MB/s writes. I’d say the only down side of this drive is that it is really loud, I have mine in a full size atx case and it’s under a shroud with the PSU. It isn’t as much of an issue if you use headphones, though sometimes it’s still audible. Though I do keep my case on my desk at head level so I’m sure that affects the noise. Overall I’d definitely still recommend it.

This review section is deceptive because it combines the review of all seagate hard drives from SSD to NAS to small and large HHDs. I purchased the item essentially based on the high review rating. It wasn’t until after the purchase that I realized that the rating was not unique to my item. It turns out that when I specifically filter for 12TB barracuda Compute PRO, the buyers are split based on performance. I am fully aware that HHD should make some noise, but this is unsettling loud. The drive is extremely loud and sounds like a motor (see video). Louder than any HHD I’ve had for the past 10 years. This using a brand new computer from 2023. I’ve reached to the seller in hopes that it is a user error situation, if so, I’ll update my review. If not, I’ll return the 12 TB HHD and look for something smaller with better reviews.

It was very easy to register the drive for warranty with Seagate via the serial number. What came back was another part number for the drive that was 1 TB, not the 2TB that the label mentioned. I was on line with Seagate for a long time to ensure that my warranty would still be good. He verified that it would be good. I did format the drive, and it is indeed a 2 TB drive. Just a head's up !

I have four disks in my computer and since I work a lot with both videos and images, there is always need for more hard drive space. I purchased the 10TB Seagate Barracuda earlier and now I replaced one of my other 4TB drives with Barracuda's 16TB version. I used Windows Computer Management to install the disk (Storage > Disk Management). Someone mentioned they had to download and install software from Seagate to find the disk. For me, it worked fine directly from Windows own Computer Management, but it is good to know that Seagate also has software to find the disk if issues. From "Disk Management", I created a partition and quick formatted it as NTFS default. If your intention is to save a lot of smaller files under 1MB, I would recommend a lower cluster size than the default to get more space out of the disk. I chose Windows default, as I also have many larger files, which gives larger cluster size. That means less space, but faster read and write from the disk. After formatting, the disk ended up around 13TB (because of bigger cluster size). I am now moving images and videos from my 10TB Barracuda disk to this new 16TB one. I would not say it goes super fast, as the average speed seems to be around 50MB/s during a transfer of 4TB of data. I guess 200,000 smaller files from the Lightroom catalog is causing the average speed to drop down, as the bigger files seem to go faster. The Barracuda disks are really quiet. I read a complaint about noise, but that is absolutely not the case for me. I can hardly hear anything and the copying process has been running for about 4 hours. I have had the 10TB Barracuda since November 2016 and never had any issues with it. I expect nothing less with this new 16TB one.

So far I like everything about them. I bought 2 and they work great. I's nice to finally have enough storage. I haven't put one i a windows machine yet and Windows can be a little more complicated as it has to have a disk usually where Mac just recognizes it right away. I use both Windows and Mac.

Was not informed that it was refurbished until after it came in. The hard drive is pretty slow at doing most things which I might amount it to the scam there refurbished HDDs were sold that were heavily used. I

This hard drive is fast, big, and reliable. The seek noise is a tad louder than I would like, but I'll still give it 5 stars. I would buy this again.

I own two 8TB and one 14TB. The 14TB one seems faster, more reliable, and even quieter than the 8TB one. I’m surprised but not only do you benefit from more storage, you get an overall better drive. Wow I’m impressed! I recommend this product to anyone.

Ho comprato questo hard disk per affiancarlo an ssd nel pc da ma assemblato. L'hard disc è abbastanza veloce e abbastanza silenzioso. Il rumore delle testine è leggermente udibile. Resta solo da testare l'affidabilità. Velocità e silenziosità sono al top.

Not usually a fan of Seagate but they were the only brand doing one this size, its been fine, a tad noisy under load but all in all im happy with it.

Ich habe diese Disc als Massenspeicher für mein neues System auserkoren mit einem "Kollegen" als RAID 1. Es ersetzt mehrere Platten, auf denen ich die Daten bisher verteilt gelagert habe. Vor allem benötige ich den Speicher für Filme und Fotos und die 6 TB Platte auf meinem alten System war einigermaßen voll. Andere Daten waren auf andere Discs verteilt. Mit 12 TB (2x zur Datensicherheit) und einem externen Sicherungs-Medium bin ich jetzt gut aufgestellt und darf datenmäßig noch wachsen.
