Amazon Essentials Men's Lightweight Water-Resistant Packable Puffer Vest

Addendum 10/24 I bought my first Amazon "puffer" vest last winter season, and it really helped to make many of the colder days more bearable. That first vest has held up perfectly - no popped seams, no busted zippers. During a recent "Prime Day" sale, they had these going for a very good price, so I got another on in a different color (Dark Olive Green). It's equally well made. Here's my original review: I wanted another lightweight layer to wear under my winter parka, and a friend suggested a "puffer" style vest. I've been happy with other Amazon Basics products, and this is the first piece of clothing I've purchased from their clothing line. So far, so good. First, Amazon suggest a large size, but I've always considered myself to be a "medium", without too much of a gut, so that's what I ordered. Glad I did, because the fit is perfect, IMHOP. It's close to my torso, but definitely not snug or constricting. The bottom hem is loosely elastic, and has no cinching. In the pictures, the vest appears a bit more "puffy" than what I got. Fine by me, I'll be layering this under my coat, and didn't want a lot of bulk. I got the dark red, and the vest is a wine colored burgundy, very close to the color that's shown on the website. It has a medium sized front zipper that extends all the way up into the collar. The outside pockets are decent sized, not too big, and also zippered. There are top load pockets on the inside of the vest (both sides) that have no closures. Quite happy with these vests - used as an extra layer under a coat or around the house, they're great! :)

Since I only paid $24 for this, it's a no-brainer. I bought a medium after reading concerns about it running wide. I'm 5' 10, 155 pounds with no gut, so the medium is perfect for me despite the fact that for jackets I would always buy a large because my shoulder are rather broad for my size. The medium fits over or under a medium fleece nicely. It's extremely lightweight and packable. It's perfect for that extra layer on a vacation just in case the temp drop. Quality seems fine, although only time will tell.

I just received my puffer vest and find it totally as described. The fit is perfect. I usually wear a medium, but often have to move up to the next size up. This was not necessary. I like it's overall weight. Where I live in Northern California, one needs to wear 3 layers since it is often necessary to remove one or more layers as the day warms up. I the zippered side pockets are espeically nice to have for securing your stuff.

This is an amazing vest. I had to exchange it for a small since it runs a little large. However, it is comfortable, warm but not too warm, soft, packable, and well made. I actually like it much better than some of my more expensive vests like the ones from Patagonia. I liked it so much I bought 3 more. For the price of one vest from Patagonia you can get 4 or 5 of these. Plus they wash well. The pockets are nice too. I call it the Three Bears Vest: not too warm, not too cold, but just right.

This vest was a hit with my man. We’re going to have an experience at the top of a cold mountain and need protection from blowing, frigid air. This vest will be the perfect shield against the elements, when combined with a thick hoodie. The medium size fit him well and the material is lightweight as well as air filled.

quality and color are superb, but no fitting in the waist is probably a medium in body and a Large in belly.

I believe the vest is true to size. It is medium white not too bulky, I can wear it on other jackets when the weather is colder. Very good value for the money.
