From acclaimed director Ridley Scott (The Martian) and renowned producer Jerry Bruckheimer (Pearl Harbor) comes the gripping true story about bravery, camaradarie and the complex reality of war. BLACK HAWK DOWN stars an exceptional cast including Josh Hartnett, Ewan McGregor and Eric Bana. In 1993, an elite group of American Rangers and Delta Force soldiers are sent to Somalia on a critical mission to capture a violent warlord whose corrupt regime has led to the starvation of hundreds of thousands of Somalis. When the mission goes quickly and terribly wrong, the men find themselves outnumbered and literally fighting for their lives. Review: A demo worthy 4K UHD release - Great war movie. Absolutely great 4K release. The sound design here will put a test to your sound system in a good way. Picture quality is great. A must own disk - a great one. Review: Wow - Had been waiting for a certain 4k player to come down in price and after a couple of years, when it did I purchased it. One of the best films I have watched on the new player is black hawk down in 4k with dolby atmos. If I had known years ago how amazing 4k films sound and look, even better than 4k streaming does, then I would have made the upgrade years ago. Black Hawk down just draws you in due to the visuals and sound and is well worth the purchase

Nobody asks to be a hero. It just sometimes turns out that way
When ''Black Hawk Down'' came out in January 2002 I didn't watch it but now I'm happy I have the opportunity to watch it thanks to Sony. As everyone says in the magnificent documentaries that are available in this release this tragic event changed the U.S.A. foreign policy and then what happened in 2001 on September 11th changed it again. I spent almost two days but I managed to watch these three discs and I personally prefer the extended version of the movie because some facts even if not too important for the story arc help the viewers to better understand some little details. Ridley Scott is right, sometimes the narration can become a bit boring if you add too many details that are not so important in the story but for example since when our heroes arrive at the stadium all the extra scenes Scott shot are quite good, above all ending the movie with Garrison and Eversmann looking at each other in the distance is my favourite scene. What about the extras? They are all fantastic especially the history channel documentary. Yes. It's an unforgettable film and the Sony people give us an incredible 4k uhd plus all the extras. We really know everything about this tragic event. Everyone should have this release in their collection

Good to have.
I think audio is better than on the bluray version; however, the film is a little grany. Overall, still an amazing reproduction - greatly enjoyed it.

Excellent value for money for this 3-disc version
I don't own many 4K Blu Ray discs but I am certainly glad that I chose to add this one to my collection. I initially loaded up the HD Blu-ray disc and then after watching the opening scenes I switched to the 4K Blu-ray disc. The additional details in the 4K HDR10 version were immediately noticeable. This, together with the choice of extended or theatrical versions on the 4K disc, means that I recommend this to anyone looking for more 4K content to watch. The film itself certainly doesn't pull any punches - there aren't any moments of relief once the action starts, and for me does a brilliant job of portraying the brutality of warfare and the effects it has on those who are sent to fight against an enemy that has no qualms about killing them.

LEAVE NO-ONE BEHIND
The film upgrade to 4K is, to say the least, impressive, surely one of the all-time great movies telling the true story of how in 1993 after the multi-national peacekeeping force departs from Somalia militia-forces loyal to the war-lord Mohamed Farrah Aidid declare war on the remaining UN personnel. Those not loyal to the self-proclaimed president suffer great hardship as supplies intended to feed them are seized by Aidid's forces. The U.S deploys three of its special forces units into the area to try and restore order including the 75th Rangers, Delta Force counter-terrorist operators, and 160th SOAR - Night Stalkers aviators. The plan is to enter the hostile area of Mogadishu and extract Aidid and senior aids in a proposed quick smash and grab raid. However, the initiative is lost when the first of two Black Hawks is shot down by the militia, a unit has to be sent to the crash site to rescue possible survivors and take care of those lost ''leave no-one behind'' and indeed leave nothing of any use to the terrorists. Very quickly the recovery team come under heavy-fire, it seems everyone in the area has weapons directed at them, from the doorways the windows and the rooftops.. With a second copter brought down the recovery teams now themselves need rescuing. The battle on the streets of Mogadishu will see a staggering loss of life and severe injuries, the U,S forces actually lose 19, the overall death toll is over 1,000. With a superb cast line-up - a film worth seeing again. With both the extended and theatrical versions on-board along with a bonus-material disc (Blu-ray) and indeed the Blu-ray version, it's a great package for those that enjoy war/action movies.

A bit disappointed
I love the film and have it on DVD and have a 4K UHD TV so thought I would buy this and get an even better viewing experience but sadly not much difference between this and the DVD
