With the price of a decent mattress today, it goes without saying that it is important to protect it. We have been using these for quite some time on our very expensive mattress. We bought our adult son a very expensive new mattress as a birthday gift, and, yes, I bought one of these to put on it. No, they do not crinkle like plastic. You do not even know that it is there. Piece of advice: Wash it in cold water and dry in a no-heat cycle dryer just like the instruction say to do. It takes a little longer for it to dry, but anything any higher and you will ruin it.

Highly recommend. It actually is waterproof! We have put these to GOOD use and I will say after several years of regular washing, they do wear out. I try to follow the dryer instructions (no high heat) but occasionally forget and they still hold up.

Plus d'une fois elle a mouillé son lit la nuit et à chaque fois je croyais que le matelas allait en être touché, mais non, jamais !!! Nous sommes plus que satisfaits ! Il est bien ajusté au lit, doux et très imperméable ! À noter que je me suis toujours assurée de bien suivre les instructions de lavage pour que l'imperméabilité ne soit pas affectée ! I purchased four of these in different sizes for all of the beds in our home. Pros: - Super soft terry, comfortable to lay on - Easy to put on, no wrestling - Fit my mattresses perfectly with no bunching under the fitted sheet - Easy to wash - Doesn't crinkle - Keeps mattress dust free (so I'd imagine it's keeping things hygienic) Con - Isn't really waterproof beyond the first wash or two I didn't wash them that often (just the regular amount) and followed product directions, but found that the waterproofing did not last. If waterproofing is your reason for buying this protector, you might not get the value out of it that you were hoping to. A little night sweat, no problem. Dropping half a cup of juice or other...um...reasons your bedsheets may get wet, not so much.

We tested this product’s ability to guard against leaks in the bathtub before use. After pouring a cup of water on it and leaving it for an hour it absorbed the liquid but didn’t soak through. We repeated this test after washing (followed the washing instructions) and same results. It protects a mattress top as advertised but this product’s fitted edge around the mattress is like mesh so we don’t expect it to protect the sides of the mattress against vomit. As a work around we’ve just tucked a garbage bag under the sides and covered the bag with a towel when our toddler has been sick. It’s elastic is easy to pull over a mattress and it fits a twin bed well. We recommend this product.

Quick take: Excellent mattress protector, but not for adults with incontinence. Detailed review: My dad is no longer able to get into/out of a standard flat bed, so he's taken to sleeping in his recliner. To protect the chair from the fairly regular accidents he has, I opted for this protector instead of the $5 one I got for his bed from the local discount big box store. Given the price, positive reviews and the testimonials, I had very high expectations. The protector has worked incredibly well for accidental spills, or small nighttime accidents, and I had been tremendously happy with the purchase. However last night he had his first big accident, and as you can see in the picture, the protector failed spectacularly where he was seated. This was the contents of the full bladder of an elderly adult man, so about 500cc or about 2 cups. He was soaked from the middle of his back down to mid-thigh, so the protector saved the back of the chair and the lower portion of the seat, but where his bottom was situated for several hours until morning when he woke up, it went right through. The second picture of the back of the mattress protector shows it is in excellent physical condition with no holes or tears, but now a new transfer stain from the wet upholstery. Overall, I would say I am unhappy with my purchase because it does not do what I purchased it to do, however it may be an excellent protector for someone with small/light children or pet accidents, or even food/drink spills that can be addressed immediately.
