To turn the chime off remove that battery. **Q: Go clock today and found a 1/2" X 2 1/2" brass plate with self adhesive tape on one side with the instructions, what is it for?** A: That is an optional engraving plate that you can have engraved and apply to the clock if you so choose. The plate is included free with this clock. **Q: How is this item shipped ? Is the pendulum removable ?** A: The pendulum is removable. It is not assembled when shipped. **Q: how do you set the time? there is no knob or wheel on the motor in the base of the clock - nor on the back of the clock which has a metal cover.** A: You have to take the metal cover off (which removes quite easily) to set to time then pop the cover back on (also quite easily to do). There is a red button on the bottom of the clock to use to match the chimes with the hour. That one was the classic 13" high glass-dome type which unfortunately is not made any more. This clock had the size I was looking for and looked nice in the pictures so I ordered it. It's absolutely beautiful. So much so it's now sitting on our mantle as opposed to the book shelf I was going to put it on. The case is real wood and although the clock is plastic, as an entire unit, the overall effect is class-plus! And the chime is pitch perfect. Electronic chimes have come a long way in 20 years. Couldn't be more pleased.
