It was scratched as if it may have been a returned item or due to improper handling while pancaking or shipping. The metal pieces that connect the top piece to the main frame of the table has to be adjusted, as it did not line up as it was supposed to and we’re missing the screws that hold it in place. The predrilled holes were damaged. My husband had to Macgyver this table in order to piece it together. He used chopsticks and wood glue to fill the holes, then sanded down and redrilled holes. By the time he was finished with assembling this, it came out beautiful. We love the table now, but it was disappointing that he had to put so much work into it (and some extra money) to assemble a table.
