The Electro-Harmonix Nano Signal Pad Guitar Pedal is a passive attenuator that allows you to instantly switch to a different preset volume. It's like your guitar's volume knob with a fully passive and color-free circuit. Leave your amp's volume set high for overdrive, and use the Signal Pad Pedal to lower your level for a clean sound—then switch it off to kick in your amp's natural overdrive. You can also experiment with the Signal Pad anywhere in your effects chain—you'll bring out new tonal combinations from your favorite old pedals. Review: Simple and effective. - Super simple and absolutely effective. I put this in my 100 watt EVH 5153 at the end of the effects loop, turn one knob and magically I can use my 5153 with 4x12" in my house without waking my daughters and neighbors up while getting the real tone. Awesome. And, yes, technically this is volume more than passive attenuator, but it works for me. Review: A good concept, but not that effective - I play a lot of solo gigs with just me and an acoustic guitar. I play rock covers and my originals. I use a loop station pedal to capture chord progressions and then solo over them. What tends to happen is that my solos are too low over the loop and I have to turn up the volume on the guitar, which I then have to readjust later. I thought this pedal would be a good solution in that I could set a solo volume and then kick it on for when I'm playing rhythm. Unfortunately, when I kicked on the pedal it immediately robbed all the tone from my guitar and made it sound dark and muddy. I ended up sending it back. I think it's a good concept, but probably not executed that well.

Nano signal pad attenuator
This pedal does one thing and does it very well! It switches your guitar from full volume to an adjustable, reduced volume with one click, allowing you to play rhythm guitar and then solo without fumbling for your volume knob. It even works with a dead battery or without being plugged in - the LED doesn't light, but it still works. Our guitarist uses one also. Well built, reliable, and very inexpensive.

An "it don't do much, but must have" pedal
This pedal is a passive attenuator for line level signals and has a variety of uses, for example. a) reduce a hot signal from a pedal board to a manageable level for the amp. In this case, most amps only have a certain clean range in the pre-amp, so pedals, and particularly some 12V or 18V pedals can provoke amp breakup..which is good, unless you want clean. b) maximise signal to noise of a pedalboard, amp or system...(like multi-fx or modelers) By having system outputs at their clean upper limit, you can maximise the signal to noise ratio and reduce the relative level of background noise & hiss, so instead of turning these units down, use an attenuator..in this case the signal AND the noise are both reduced. c) quick level change for lead/rhythm on guitar. I put this last.. this is far more a common application for a boost or OD pedal. Other than quick level changes, what this attenuator switch is not is a replacement for you volume control.... A gtr pickup is tonally different throughout its volume range.. this attenuator will keep the same tone from your guitar regardless as it simply reduces the signal level, NOT the signal properties.

Great simple idea
Great simple idea, I use it in my effects loop as a 'rhythm cut' (about 25%), then bypass so leads are full volume. No noticeable tone suck, and you can even turn the knob with your foot to get your rhythm sound just right in the mix. Had issues in some amps with parallel effects loops, even mixed 100% wet sometimes it did not work well. Needed to basically 'model it' in my M9 with a volume pedal for those situations :P

Just a Master Volume switch, not an attenuator
I bought this thinking I may be able to use it between a Kustom 5H head and its cabinet to bring a cranked tube amp down to neighbor-friendly noise levels, but no such luck. An attenuator it isn't. Putting it between a guitar and the amp (its intended use) introduced noise that was not there before - overall not very useful.

This unit has earned a spot on my pedalboard. I use one setting for plucking the strings and one for bowing. Very handy and very reliable

Works well in FX loop
I use this in the FX loop of my Marshal MA100H, the only thing in the loop though I have a few in-line/front loaded FX before the pream (Boss DD7, TR2, Digitech Bad Monkey, Jim Dunlop Crybaby, Korg Pitch-Black, playing a Les Paul mostly) I use this to attenuate my signal so I can kick it off for solo volume boosts without affecting tone and it works pretty well. Only minor criticism is the volume pot is very sensitive and my size 11 boots tend to kick it too much gigs and upset the balance. Maybe a protective bar or something would help (or me being less clumsy). Very neat piece of kit and I now couldn't do without it. Looks cool too and very solid metal casing.

Pratique

Volume Control
A bit of noise as an "attenuator". It's basically works like a secondary volume knob on your guitar. Great as a stomp on/off so you can unplug guitar and switch.

Not cable or power supply is included.
The product works fine as it should but it would have been nice if a power supply is included with this price, or at least clearly stated power supply is not included and you need to buy it separately.
