Read the description before purchase. And yes, it does charge the switch.
Works perfect.For people that have given this a bad review... it does in fact work on the switch for charging, in handheld mode. It *will not* charge the switch in the dock.I have the snes classic and this is the same charge block that i have been using to charge my switch and pro controller for weeks. Just decided i needed an extra one for my travel bag.

Great for charging our Switch accessories
In our family, each of us have several accessories for the Switch - pro controllers, the joy con charging grip, poke balls. This Nintendo usb ac adapter works great with all of them, while avoiding the higher cost of purchasing an additional Nintendo charging brick.We have a few generic usb ac adapters around the house that we could have probably used just as well, but it gives me a little added peace of mind knowing this adapter has the recommended power rate for our accessories, and is an official Nintendo product.

Good Nintendo Charger NOT A Substitute for the Wall Charger
You can get something that does the same trick for cheaper but I'm a name brand kind of guy so I want to make sure anything for my Nintendo switch is by Nintendo or licensed by Nintendo. This is good for charging anything that needs a USB wall adapter how IT WILL NOT PROVIDE ENOUGH POWER TO CHARGE YOUR SWITCH WHILE PLAYING. It will charge your Switch (or any device that uses USB C) but it doesn't output the same power as original wall AC Plug. That mean if you're playing the switch while charging using THIS adapter the battery is going to go down (slower, but down still).

Rating Based on Listing, Not Product
The listing is incorrect. This USB Adapter will not work with the Nintendo Switch console, as per the label on the back of the packaging.It is designed to work with the NES and SNES Classic editions, and also charge Joy-Cons and some other Switch controllers. However, after further research prior to using this I determined you should not be using a USB-A to USB-C cord to charge the Switch console. I will be returning this item.As it is made by Nintendo, I'm sure the product is great for its intended purpose - the listing is just misleading and needs to be corrected.

Charges anything Switch
Will not charge the Switch itself in docked mode. Will charge pretty much all modern Nintendo products as far as I've seen.

Great power adapter for Switch!
Works great for a charger when on the go, or when you need to use a longer USB-C cable when the original adapter isn't long enough. No, it will not charge the unit while outputting to TV, but just the Switch and controllers when attached, but this is what it is intended for.Great buy!
