Dorman 99140 Patented Keyless Entry Remote 3 Button Compatible with Select Toyota Models (OE FIX)

Works great. I 1st bought one and returned as it did not act as instructions. The second one worked great it also had it looked like it had an issue but it turned out there was no problem with the programmer just it does the right light was actually a different color than the orange that they talked about and instructions. Bottom line is now I have an original key fob that works and two replacement so now I have three key fob so I can’t complain. Just follow the instructions and do not worry about the light. Recommend

After about 12 years the factory fob for my Tundra finally died. I had inquired about a replacement during a service last year and the rough estimate would have been over $300 including programming and a new fob. So I didn’t bother with it simply went old school and used the key to lock and unlock my doors. I was searching for some information on another install I was going to the truck and a poster made mention to a key fob issue and lo and behold, this is where we ended up. The product reviews well, the Dorman name is known and trusted and been the savior of a few roadside/parking lot emergencies in my life. The price point was agreeable plus the simplicity of the included programmer made this purchase a no brainer. Took less than a minute to program the fob and if needed I can still use the programmer 2 more times. So in short, this product saved me hundreds over having the dealership set me up. The fob itself is black as opposed to the factory blue but feels every bit as solid and durable as the OEM fob. I would recommend it to anyone not suffering from an actual mechanical or electric break down. Dorman saves the day again. For me at least.

When I removed the fob from the box, I noticed the lock button was stuck pressed in so there was no click. I opened it up and found the battery half way out so I fixed that and put it back together. I pressed the button, it clicked but again didn’t release. I had to end up trimming the plastic around that button to create enough room to allow it to move freely. That worked for a few days. The fob comes apart a lot. The other night it came apart, the insides landed on the ground and set off the alarm. Fun times. Very poor quality. The product was easy to program though.

***Update*** Received second programmer from Amazon. It did not work either for my 2011 Tacoma PreRunner. I contacted Dormann Tech Support directly, they said it should work and they asked for the Trucks VIN number. Within just a few minutes they emailed me a manual programming procedure that didn't require the plug in Programming Module that came with the kit. The procedure involved a series in inserting and removing the key and opening and closing the door. The manual procedure took about 3 minutes and now my Dorman FOB works and works great. I am surprised that the manual method worked despite everything I read online saying it wouldn't work with a Tacoma 2011 and later. The new Dorman FOB has a much further range than the original Toyota FOB ever did. The Dorman FOB seems to be made with a better grade of plastic with better buttons and it snaps together more securely. Dorman Tech support was very responsive and answered my email within minutes. Very satisfied with my new FOB. Changing my rating to 4 stars!!! Received programmer and key fob from Amazon in a timely fashion. Inserted the programmer into the Tacoma OBD II port per the instructions. Programmer appears to be completely dead no LED lights, no chime as the instructions say should happen. Verified it's the correct model # and that it's fits my 2011 Tacoma. Returned to Amazon as a defect and requested another unit. We'll see what happens when the replacement arrives. Will update review when the replacement arrives.

Fast delivery! The programming instructions were very clear and straight forward! I had me new keyless entry remote set up and programmed to my Tundra in less that 60 seconds! So much easier and cheaper than going to Toyota!!!

I didn’t have huge expectations, but as it was about a third of the price of the absolute cheapest alternative option I had found, I figured why not. My 2012 tundra didn’t work with the first method, I thought “I knew it” but I decided to give the much more complicated setup a try. And to my sweet, sweet surprise, it worked right away and now i have a functional key fob for my beloved baby. thank you

I ordered this keyless remote because I didn’t get the original when I purchased the used Tundra. Once I received the Dorman remote I opened it and read the instructions. It states that you must have a working remote in order to program this one. If I had a working remote I never would have ordered the Dorman remote. It also states that once the remote is programmed you must re-program all other remotes as well as your chipped ignition keys. Trying to do the programming required, you take a huge risk ending up with no workable remotes and no workable ignition keys. I decided that the risk was much too high and I opted to return the product. The days of doing your own programming for keyless remotes and chipped ignition keys have all but vanished.
