When I found them in my size again, I immediately purchased a pair. The boots arrived as expected but there was a problem with the insoles. Both boots had damaged insoles, with one being heavily creased and the other one with a smaller crease. I've attempted to flatten out the creases but I may need to replace the inserts. Other than that, they are the same excellent boots I've always received from Altama.They DO require some break-in, so if you're adverse to that - do not purchase these boots. However, once they are broken in, they fit like an Italian leather glove.I have several pairs of Altama boots, some over 20 years old. Once broken in they are like old friends. They are not waterproof but with the occasional application of some mink oil, they are water resistant enough for all-around use. I wouldn't spend 8 hours in the snow with them or work in the rain all-day with them (I have better boots for those tasks).Everyone is different and you need to find what works for you. I cannot wear Danner's, for some reason they just don't fit me at all. Belleville boots sort of work for me and are my wet weather boot. The Altama's do work for and they hold up well. They are tripple stitched on all the seems, the tongue is part of the upper leather so there is no way you're going to get wet wearing these. Outsoles are replaceable and stitched to the shoe. No glue to come loose and leave your sole flopping like some others. They are hands down the best boots I have ever owned. I am so glad they are making these again. Army uniform regulation changes made these boots pretty rare for a number of years. If you want a boot that will last a decade for under $100, these are the only way to go.
