I called a locksmith to crack it open (I’ll note, these things are very sturdy, took him a WHILE with even a metal saw) and the company was very supportive of getting me not only a replacement but also repayment for the mechanical mishap. Honestly a huge relief and awesome part of the process was support specialist John Flores who was top notch, attentive, and made me feel comfortable in continuing to partner with Igloohome. My best advice is this... premium batteries = best results. We tried using Amazon batteries to begin with however there is no way of physically seeing the expiration date / life date prior to making the purchase so... our batteries are expiring quickly. As we have started to replace them we have switched to a very expensive very high end long life battery with MUCH better results. Keep this in mind, even if your batteries die you can access the lock with a 9V batterie externally. There are two metal spots on the bottom of the lock, hold the 9V conductive points to those metal spots (not particular direction) and start the process of entering your code. It works easier with 2 people but can be done alone. Also easier if you send someone with you a Bluetooth key. So, you can actually never be locked out! This company is extremely responsive and has a great customer service department who will stay on the phone with you and walk you through the process. It only uses Bluetooth and you can only sync the device when near it. With that said, it uses the same encryption used for one time passwords (OTP) that websites use. It utilizes an algorithm to generate new passwords from anywhere, at any time, based on whatever rules you want (1 hour, 2 days, permanent). It’s more complicated to explain than that, but basically you can generate passwords with rules, remotely, without any connection to the device itself. Once completed and set, it's an awesome product. You can send a code to a handy man or house cleaner from anywhere and they can enter house.
