It is far better built and a much better fit than many of the generic VCT-14 plates that are floating around. I am using with a Lanpart VCT rig with a Panasonic EVA1, and it clicks in and fits without any play in the mount, which is a vast improvement to the wiggly VCT plate that I had. The Smallrig version also has a neat cut-in profile at the back that slims it down nicely and minimizes weight without sacrificing build or functionality. So when the time came to build my own cinema rig, I did my research and landed on the smallrig system. When Using with an 8sinn shoulder plate it works perfectly! It’s so easy to slide the camera on and off sticks throughout the day. I can also use multiple plates mounted to various things like jib or steadicam to quickly swap rigs. It also sits flat on a table with the camera mounted.
