It was entertaining and fun to listen to but I also found it really helpful. When I listened to it the first time, my daughter was 1 year old, so she was a little too young to start this discipline technique. But I found that even though she might not know what I was doing, counting really helped me because it removed my anger out of the equation when she was misbehaving. I do think that the tendency for parents is to overuse rationalization when disciplining their children and Phelan is right on the money when he says over and over again that children are NOT rational!! I could explain over and over again until I am blue in the face why my daughter shouldn't do this or that but all of it is going to go in one ear and out the other. That's probably why parents get so frustrated. We try to explain and try to explain and the child keeps up the misbehavior so we eventually blow a gasket. I am probably going to listen to this audio cd over and over again. There are many situations that you will identify with (either things you've done yourself, or situations you've seen some other poor parent struggling with at a grocery store). This book gives practical ideas, that you can use on day one, to help give loving, but firm, guidance and parenting to your child. You won't regret this purchase; this really works. It is worth every penny!Now that I have completed and successfully use the book, I often want to, sympathetically, hand it to other parents I see at the grocery store. Their pain is an oh so familiar one. I want to share our success with all the others who have walked in my shoes.... ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ So easy! I was worried when ordering this, that the audio may be very bland and boring, making it hard to listen to. But it definitely is not! Everything is explained very well with enthusiasm by Dr. Phelan. He makes many jokes throughout. He uses many examples and experiences of his own parenting as well as stories from his clients, making it very relatable. I have been using this discipline technics with my 18 month old. This has helped us tremendously! Having guidance through difficult stages of behavior is just what we needed.
