How long does one strip last?

I’ve been using my first one for a few month on my fermentation buckets for homebrew beer and it still seems to work.

When using this for fish tank do you put on outside of tank?

Yes outside works in either top corner left or right also very accurate

How are the themperature determined?

The colored marking shows the current temperature, it's at so it's easy to read. The color will move and change as the temperature changes.
