Sealey SMS01 Drill Bit Sharpener Grinding Attachment

Works fine , saved a few quid on buying drill bits that's for sure.

Made from pot-metal, do not expect engineered/precision made. A bit of a pain to figure out how to use effectively, but once you "get it" easy enough - given that you need to turn the bit through 180degrees for the second edge they didnt figure out an easy solution, but not challenging once you get comfortable - seems to give repeatable results, and re-grinding general bits to a shallower angle makes metal-drilling SO much easier. Would prefer better engineered and would pay a bit more for such, but this does the job.

I have four different types of drill sharpeners and an engineer told me this was the best. And it is. Instructions could be better. I had to consult one of the recent books I bought to set it up correctly and get the correct angle on the drill.

This appeared to be a useful attachment to grind twist drills on a standard bench grinder. It turned out to be totally useless. 1. The instructions are pathetic, don't give clear setting up procedure to fit up to bench grinder. 2. The illustration is wrong, the name plate must face the user when fitted to the grinder. 3. The workmanship / accuracy was very poor, needed a lot of re-working to assemble properly. 4. A 3 mm drill can not be fitted without modification to the casting to allow the lip rest to be lowered sufficiently for the drill to sit in the V guide. 5. When set up to the grinding wheel for say an 8 mm drill, the set up is incorrect for a 3 mm or a 13 mm drill. The point angle is only correct for the one diameter of drill . 6. The "sweep" of the jig results in VERY EXCESSIVE removal of the heel. 7. It is difficult to use, following the instructions for grinding the 2nd edge would result in very severe grinding burn. Conclusion: Worse than useless

Quite difficult to operate, tried to use it several times but got bad results. I would’ve sent it back but I didn’t start using it for a while and by then it was to late to ask for a refund...make sure that if you do have a lapse of memory about this item then I suggest using it as soon as you get it.......

Bella macchinetta, va un po' rifinita con limetta e carta vetro fine, ma poi lavora bene. Per ottenere i giusti angoli la punta non va bloccata con i taglienti in verticale come in fig. 3 delle istruzioni, me ruotata di circa 15 gradi in senso antiorario. Secondo me meglio fissare l attrezzo sul banco al lato della mola in modo che la punta si affili sul fianco della mola che deve essere liscio.

As we searched for a better quality bit sharpener this one looked on the better side of the choices. When the box arrived it had damage. After some trial and error we found their was a bent rod and it didnt work well to sharpen. Was a bit disappointed. Ended up using an all-in-one bench grinder sharpener.

Es un artilujio de dificil ajuste, pero una vez lo consigues, es muy util para brocas de 4 m/m. en adelante hasta 12 m/m. Las mas pequeñas son de dificil ajustes, y mas grandes no caben.

Tal vez puedas hacer un afilado mas preciso en brocas de 6 mm a 10, pero en las pequeñas, no sirve. Lo bueno es que se puede ajustar, pero lo malo es que hay que instalarlo delante de la piedra y calcularle un angulo lateral a ojimetro, y no es bueno. A mano acabo antes.
