Within less than a week it was covered in bright orange rust. We have used it ONCE. It has rained hard a few times, but I certainly did not expect that it would be so rusty within a matter of days. I am really disappointed.I contacted the seller and was told that this is to be expected because it is steel. I can return it but there could be a 20% restocking fee and I have to pay for shipping a large and heavy object back. I now plan to research how to remove rust and what type of flame resistant Rustoleum product could protect it. Seems like a lot of work for an essentially brand new grate! It would have been nice to know that this would happen, and I think the company should have coated it or warned consumers about this rust issue. The first was a 28" wagon wheel, which didn't hold up well. Two of the center welds failed within 3 months of use. Possibly due to numerous hot fires (metal turned red in places) and large pieces of heavy wood being added. It still works Ok, but given away, as it was too small anyway. This time I purchased the 32" wagon wheel that fits better within my firepit. So far it's holding up as expected.
