While it has smooth movement right out of the box, I added a small dab of Tetra gun grease to the contact surfaces and its movement is now incredibly smooth. The quick detach feature allows the bipod to be moved from one rifle to another very easily so long as each rifle has a Picatinny rail. As such, you do not have to shell out for a bipod for each of your rifles. While this part is a bit expensive considering it only adds side-to-side movement, it is very well made and mounts very solidly to the rail. If you are just shooting off of a bench at paper targets it is not really a must-have item but it can make it slightly easier to get your sights lined up on target. If you are using your Harris bipod on a hunting rifle, you definitely need this to get the most out of your bipod. The only caveat (other than the price) is it does add a few more ounces to the front of the rifle but that could be a bonus if you are shooting a rifle with heavy recoil.The one thing that is annoying about the Harris SBRM is the bipod costs ~$110 and then once you have it mounted, you realize you need to spend another $110 for additional parts to make it capable of panning and to be able to make quick field adjustments to the tension on the tilt mechanism. Propping my rifle on my backpack certainly was not quite as stable or precise for long range shots but it was $220 less expensive and it didn't add a noticeable amount of weight to the front of my rifle. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Very well built, works as advertised, but won't mount in all situations *by M***N on Reviewed in the United States on April 12, 2012* The Rota-Pod appears to be made of high quality aluminum and stainless steel. The fit and finish are absolutely superb, as is common on high end firearm parts. While the Rota-Pod is somewhat tall, this is actually a benefit since I've never wished my bipod was shorter but there have been many times I wished it was taller. Everything is tool-less and the Rota-Pod has a QD feature allowing you to quickly mount or remove it.The main feature of course is the ability to traverse. At first, just holding the Rota-Pod in the hand, it does not appear as if there is much of a traverse angle at all. However, the small rotation angle on the Rota-pod is misleading because it translates into quite a bit of traverse. Once mounted, you'll quickly see that there is a generous amount of traverse in both directions.For the most part, the design is well-thought out. However, this brings me to the one problem I have with it. The jaws that clamp on to the rail are fixed in place; they are not adjustable or removable like many other rail mounted devices. As a result, The Rota-Pod cannot mount directly to a rail in any position. Instead, you must place the Rota-Pod in front of an open end on the rail and slide it onto the rail into its position. This is fine if you have an open end on your rail AND enough empty space forward of that open end to put the Rota-Pod into position to slide it onto the rail. But if you don't have those things, you cannot mount the Rota-Pod. As it turns out, 2 of my 3 rifles have one thing or another that ended up preventing me from mounting the Rota-Pod onto them.It was tough to rate this item. Really it is 5 stars if it works with your particular setup but useless if it doesn't. I would definitely recommend it if the forward end of your rail is clear. If you are not sure whether or not it will work, I'd say that you can buy this item with confidence; the return process was simple and easy for me. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny *by R***Y on Reviewed in the United States on December 11, 2014* This adapter makes it so that you can remove the bipod in an instant. It is machined perfectly so that it slide right on and off, and there is slack in how it fits so that it is very stable. It is very solid too. If you are carrying this for hunting then the weight can an issue.This bipod also swivels, and so this helps when hunting. I've got an AR15's with bipods and with Mark 4 scopes. Add bullets and a carry strap and the weight starts getting pretty high. If you are just bench shooting, then not a problem. Another nice thing about this is that if we have more than one AR rifle we can move the RBA with bi-pod to another rifle in less than one second.
