However based on my tests it doesn’t affect sound at all. Having been in the audio industry for 35 years, you need to understand a few things first. To make this quite simple, the echo Dot (3rd gen) which currently is the latest model has a very small speaker, the actual cone is about 1/4 the size of the actual dot itself. The speaker is facing downward in the dot. The sound bounces off the plastic bottom of the dot and spreads out towards the outer diameter. Now, the dot internally has legs which holds the internal levels of the dot approx 1/4 of an inch away from the plastic bottom. The speaker is off set to one side of the dot, an NOT in the middle. When you lay the dot on a flat surface the sound will radiate outwards toward you at which point it reflects off walls. Now, this mount will change the aspect of the speaker, I, like most of us will plug it into a wall making it vertical. Now the sound will bounce off the floor and any close walls. If it’s near furniture, it will either bounce or be absorbed depending on material. Sound is directed differently which can change how it’s listened to creating a loss of frequencies. I personally used this mount in the same spot as my dot was located, what more it was the same position of being vertical. The mount didn’t change the sound, thus proving my theory. As for wrapping the wire in the mount etc, etc, it just basic principle of fitting it in. It works fine. The tiny clips that hold the dot, in my opinion should not affect the sound quality. There are more things to think about like I mentioned.Based on my test of this unit the main concern we should look at is if we place the dot, vertical, in the area where we plan to plug it in, this should represent the closest the sound will be with the mount. Plug it in, wrap the cord around the plug and let it hang a bit. It worked for me. Hopefully this helps more potential buyers for the future. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ 4.0 out of 5 stars Solid Product, Works Okay *by S***X on Reviewed in the United States on February 4, 2019* Overall the product is good and does what you would expect with the Echo Dot 3rd Gens. Unless you are a sound technician or music aficionado, you will most likely be happy with this. Mine has been installed now for a month or two and the only 'issue' I have is there is some muffling of the sound. The design of the 'clips' (not sure of what they are officially called) places them over the perimeter speakers. It is too bad the Designers did not account for this and mold openings in the three 'clips' to allow some sound to come out. Don't get me wrong, Alexa's voice is loud and strong and her responses are fine, it is just the music that seems slightly muffled.The installation was a small bit more complicated as it is not 'snap-in'. Instructions were a little unclear, but if I can figure it out, you can too. One will need a medium precision-like phillips-head screwdriver to get the back plate off in order to wrap the cord (these do not come with shorter cords as the Gen 3 plug wires are hard wired into the adapter). Wrapping the cord neatly and reinstalling the plate requires a little patience.Once installed, it works well. Note that is does hang a bit lower than the earlier Gen Dots and flush to the wall, so clearance below your power receptacle is key. Backsplashes and baseboards can cause issues, if not enough room. ### ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ 5.0 out of 5 stars Great space saver *by P***. on Reviewed in the United States on December 30, 2018* Purchased an echo dot 3rd gen for my father in law who is in a nursing home following a devastating stroke. He struggles to find things to fill his time and we thought the Dot might bring him some enjoyment even if he only uses it to listen to some music. Unfortunately, he doesn't have any extra space in his room so the search for some type of mount began. This worked out perfect. We didn't have to mount directly to the wall it attaches directly over the outlet and keeps this upright, easy to access, but without worry of a cord getting caught, and without taking up what precious little space he has on his bedside table. It was easy to setup. The bottom detaches. The wires and outlet can be turned depending on your preference, and there is a place to wind the cord and keep it tucked away. I just wish I had grabbed a picture after setting it up. Love this and will be considering getting a couple more for myself!
