They love the magnetic aspect and their interest is held for ...
I just also purchased both the upper and lower case cursive hand writing alphabet ones for my children (5 1/2, 8 and 10 year olds) and for my daycare (2 1/2-5 year olds). They love the magnetic aspect and their interest is held for quite some time (they’ll practice on these for anywhere from a 1/2 hour to an hour just for fun)! These are highly effective in encouraging and establishing pre-cursive writing skills, basic fine motor skills and refining existing writing skills, at each stage of development for the age groups I’ve mentioned above. I wish I’d had these when I was overseeing the preschool and lower school curriculum for two private schools for five years prior to starting my daycare/homeschool co-op. I’ve had these- upper and lower case alphabet handwriting ones for a number of years (before purchasing the cursive ones now as well) they are a favorite amongst the children I care for and they still look practically new. My youngest has been writing (handwriting) all the letters of the alphabet since she was 3 1/2, greatly due to these products, in conjunction with handwriting work sheets and “write and wipe” products, after her introduction to handwriting using these products (the same goes for the children in my care). She’s already writing cursive letters of her own volition after using the cursive ones for only a few days, with no other cursive writing practice sources. I highly recommend these!

Great toy
I love the Kid O magnatabs - we have this one, as well as the capital letter board, and the number board. They are all great, very fun. My son loves tracing the letters and learning what letter he is tracing. He learned his capital letters first, so having a toy like this, which helps him match the lower case levels to the capital letters, has been great. The pen has a nice slot to remain with the board, but it is easy to use, so you might want to store it elsewhere. When I last checked, the company did not sell stand-alone pens, so if you lose the pen, you need a new set to have a replacement. Hopefully, at some point, they will add some sort of tether or string to the pen so it won't get lost.

Great purcahse
It took me a long time to buy this (because of the cost), after it sat on my list for a year or more. Now that we have it, I wish I had gotten it sooner. The click of the little magnetic balls is so satisfying and addicting. Popping them back down is surprisingly soothing.... oh! and the kids love it too! My oldest (8) was forming some of his letter funny, so this is good practice for him. My 5 year old lacks the fine motor skills to write letters on her own, but this is helping her develop them. My youngest (3) is becoming familiar with the letters and their formations by playing with this.

Great for keeping toddler occupied and learning at the same time!
I saw this at my daughter's dentist office and I could not get her to put it down back in the waiting room. I literally came home from the dentist and ordered this for her. I think it is genius. She is only 2.5 and loves to trace the letters and say each letter. I like this one in particular because she knows her capital letters perfectly but lower case letters she gets a bit confused with (a, b, d, p). This is a really great tool for her to see the alphabet, practice writing and holding a pen. She actually now holds a pen like a big kid in her first 3 fingers. Not to mention that she can be transfixed with this toy for a while before getting bored and moving on.

Amazing educational toy!
I love these boards! My 3 year old has a speech delay but is learning to read and write. Her therapists were impressed by this toy and she will play with it for up to an hour. The only minor downside is trying to keep track of the magnetic pen that you absolutely need to use this. We lost one but ordered a replacement for $4.

Great Tool!
I have found this to be a great tool in working one-on-one with children to help correct improperly learned letters. The children love using them, but unless you sit with a child to supervise the proper formation they will just run the stylus over the letters to make the beads pop up. Used the way I used them, they helped correct some poor letter formation habits.

Well made!
This product seems particularly well-made. It is sturdy and seems pretty indestructible. I do think it will take me actually sitting down with my child and explaining to them repeatedly how to do the letters for them to actually get any educational benefit from this toy. So far he just enjoys using the magnet to pull up the magnetic silver balls and then pushing them back down with his hand. The size of the magnetic pen should really be larger in circumference. It would make it much easier for a beginner writer to work with.

Great for my classroom!
I bought this and the capitol letter magnatab as well. They are a huge hit with my kids at school and it really does help them trace letters. I love that they can also use their finger to push the metal beads back down. The "pen" that is used does have a lot of power and sometimes grabs some metal beads before it gets to that area of the letter they are trying to trace, however, i don't find that to be a deal breaker. The overall concept for the magnatab is wonderful.

Excellent quality learning tool
This is a wonderful learning tool for our homeschool. Great for writing practice, learning letter sounds and names and the kids just enjoy playing with it. The magnetic pen and beads work together nicely and the overall quality is excellent and sturdy. I like that it has a spot right in the board to keep the pen so it does not get lost. We purchased the uppercase magna tab as well
