This is now my daily brew
After trying many Assam's this is the one I've landed on. Previously my preferred brand was Taylors. I tried several, bagged and loose leaf, and this one I think has the best strength and flavor. The amount for the price is excellent too. I wasn't paying too much attention to that and was pleasantly surprised to receive so much. No complaints on freshness either. I would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a good loose leaf Assam.

Surprisingly good Assam tippy tea. I'm impressed. Here are some tips for getting the best flavor.
I'm a little obsessed with good tea. I thought I'd order this to take with me on a business trip, so I could enjoy loose leaf tea on the road, and not place my more expensive stash at risk while I travel. Well, I have to say I'm VERY impressed! I was expecting mediocre, okay, pleasant tea. This is actually very good stuff. I mixed this tea with the Ahmad Ceylon Earl Grey to add some flavor. I used one teaspoon of Earl Grey, two teaspoons of the Kalami Assam, placing the Earl Grey on top of the unflavored Assam to balance out the extraction. I also added two teaspoons of Xilitol (healthy sugar substitute) to the pot. I used a standard teapot with a contact infuser, boiling 0.75 liters of water, waiting ten seconds, then pouring the water into the infuser. I set the timer to 3:00 minutes. After 3:00 minutes, I removed the tea leaves, stirred the pot, covered it, and began pouring. The flavor was very good, well-balanced, and not bitter. after the third cup, the flavor actually improved (this tasted better when it cooled off a bit, not too hot). I enjoyed every sip, and finished the whole pot within 40 minutes. Here are a couple of additional tips, after some experimenting: 1. My ideal brewing time for this tea is 3 minutes. 4 minutes can work if you like a stronger, more astringent brew. After 4 minutes the tea quickly became bitter. 3 minutes seems idea. 2. Count to ten (ten seconds) after boiling the water before pouring it over the tea leaves. Otherwise you might burn your tea and ruin the flavor. This tea blend has many broken leaves in it, which release a lot of tannic acid when burned. That's what leads to the bitter flavor. 3. If you hot brew this tea and then refrigerate it, the tea will become very cloudy and lose much of its fragrant flavor. Although I prefer iced tea, this tea is best served warm or hot. 4. This tea makes a decent cold brew. If you cold brew the tea, it will not become cloudy. I am mixing 1/3 Earl Grey, 2/3 Kalami Assam, 2 table spoons (6 teaspoons) in a 32 ounce Mason Jar, and then leaving it in the refrigerator for two days, with some sugar in the jar. The flavor is very smooth and uplifting, with no bitterness. The tea comes out clear (not cloudy) if you cold brew it. The flavor is different from a hot brew. Hope that helps. I do recommend this as a budget tea. It will take me 6 months to get through this supply, if I use it to make two teapots per week.

Great flavor for those who like black tea
I wanted to get away from tea bags due to concern of microplastics. Long leaf ablack teas are also generally higher quality than CTC teas. So instead of Ahmad teabags (which come in several flavors, including Assam), I ordered this one. Price was less than most of the other Assam long leaf teas, and I have really enjoyed the taste (other than my first cup, which was stronger/more bitter than the Ahmad cardamom tea bags that I have used before, so I steep my tea for a little less time now). I wish this same tea came in organic Assam tea, but have been quite happy with it. Note that I drink my tea with milk and sugar, although for me, it tastes really nice without any milk as well.

Reasonably priced, exceptionally good tasting.

yummy stuff
that brews up a great cup of smooth, fragrant tea. It seems like it would be strong enough to brew a second cup, but life is too short to be cheap with tea leaves. Brew it long enough to give it some real color and flavor, don't be shy.

Strongest Malty Taste of Any Assam of the many I've tried.
Strongest Malty Taste of Any Assam of the many I've tried. I love Assam tea, and this one, is the exceptional one. Friends from India have sent me Assam from the tea gardens, this one still is the best. It's long leaves with golden tips and NOT small broken leaves like the other offering Barooti from Ahmad.

Rich, smooth flavor, excellent value
The longest strands of dried leaves in this Kalami (Ghalami) tea from Assam, India are about 1 cm long on average. The number of flowers or yellowish fragments is minimal. The box contains a foil bag that is packed full with 454 grams of tea. This is a generous amount that could last a couple years for two people using the box daily. Customers concerned about keeping humidity out of the product might consider transferring it to a sealed container. As a single origin tea, the flavor of this product is clean, not astringent, not smoky. This is a true, unadulterated black tea, the basis of most Indian and English teas. The roast level is dark so the tea is truly black and rich in taste after a minute or two of steeping. The leaves hold up to three steeps if you measure out one flat teaspoon to make one strong cup at a time. Due to the uncrushed leaves here, this tea is a smoother, finer drinking experience than bagged teas made for India, UK, or Canada markets. Of course, a super tippy Assam with longer strands, tea tree flowers, and lighter roast tends to be more fragrant and even smoother. (Vedict Teas Super Orange Pekoe Assam is that premium tea.) This is not a super tippy tea, but I enjoy it for rich, smooth flavor and excellent value.

C’est un excellent thé d’Assam. À ce prix-là, son rapport qualité-prix est sans doute imbattable.
