These blocked the car noise as well as foam ear plugs and the intercom system was awesome. The microphones did not pick up track noise and made communication between us as easy as if we were sitting in our living room. We have rented the popular ones ('RE) from the track before which sell for 500 dollars or more and these work much better. These plugged into my Uniden scanner and the volume was great didn't need to get an amplifier like you do with the other track headsets. If these work this well at Martinsville they will work at any race track. I would recommend these to anyone unless you have a couple of hundred dollars laying around and want the brand everyone else has, but they won't work as well as these do for less money. Even through these aren't the Racing Electonics brand, they are the identical Gemini-5 system. We've used these for five races and can't tell any difference between the two. Sound is good on both the scanner and intercom and we could easily hear over the constant noise at a Darlington.
