Great camera for safari and camera novice!
I bought this camera at the last minute specifically to go on safaris in South Africa. I wanted a small camera with a built in zoom and auto focus. I am NOT a professional photographer, but this was my first and probably only opportunity to go to South Africa so I wanted the best pictures I could get. This camera can't take a bad picture on th auto setting! And the zoom is incredible! I was able to take better pictures than people that brought huge professional cameras with bulky changeable lenses! It even takes great pictures at night. It doesn't have night vision, but the flash and settings are easy enough for a novice to understand to make images really pop! Also, it has this rapid snapping feature so you can take pictures of animals in motion and select the best ones. I've added some of my favorite photos from my trip and I guarantee you I was NO WHERE NEAR as close to the animals as the pictures make it seem!

Canon PowerShot SX740 HS Digital Camera
I also own a Canon 70D SLR with several lens. It is NOT convenient to carry around. I purchased this with one of the priorities being "will it fit in a pocket". It fits in my shirt pocket, pants pocket very well. It also comes with a belt carrier that works well. All that is nice but how does the camera work? NOTE: I'm NOT an experienced photographer. Average at best. I really enjoy the zoom on this camera. I've used it in several of the modes for different types of photography and everything works well. Overall, I'm happy with this purchase and would recommend this camera package for the beginner to average level photographer looking for a small but good camera.

Little camera with big results
I used this camera on my last trip to Yosemite and I really enjoyed it. I usually carry my DSLR around with me but it can sometimes be cumbersome while hiking around on trails. This Powershot SX740 is nice and small and I kept in my jacket pocket making it convenient when I needed to take a picture. The zoom is amazing and stabilization works great. When in manual mode it works just like the big cameras. I recommend this camera.

The zoom on this thing is CRAZY!
It's zoom is so powerful that it's fun to take it into the mountains and be able to focus in on distant peaks and far away sights that other cameras just can't capture to that incredible degree! It takes some practice to hold the camera steady enough to get a good picture when you are at maximum zoom, though, but it's still fun. Overall, a very satisfying and worthwhile addition to any adventure!

Not as expected at all. Will be returning camera. Canon SX740
This camera is the worst device I have ever used. It is not user friendly, starting with the settings. They are not logical. The really irritating thing about this camera is that it shuts off all the time while you are using it. And there is no way to correct this in the settings. The longest the camera stays on is 8 seconds. The only way you can keep it from shutting off is by holding the press button down just slightly without taking a picture. I take a lot of pictures of birds and this is very inconvenient and I have lost several good shots because of the camera shutting down. The pictures are not as good compared to another camera/brand I have used over the years. Holding the camera is not es comfortable as described. The small rubber piece in front of the camera is too small to get a good grip, even with smaller hands like mine. The wifi only works by pairing to another device, there is no email option. It does not come with a USB cable to charge the battery, only a plug in box with an attached cable. This limits your options to refresh your batterie in your car while traveling, etc. Also, the batterie does not last long. There are other items that I don't like in this camera... overall, I would not recommend it if you want to take a lot of really good pictures with lots of options. Oh yeah. There is not editing, trimming, the pictures in the menu. The viewing in between pictures is pretty much useless, it takes you totally out of the shooting mode when you press the view button. Again, compared to another camera this is a more complicated process. I wonder if I ended up with an international version. I will be returning this camera. It was not shipped by Amazon, but the seller was efficient and my package arrived even a couple of days early.

Great zoom!
Great camera that’s small enough to fit in a purse. Zoom is fantastic, am able to get a clear picture of the moon on Auto setting! I use it mostly when I want to zoom in from a distance, as my iPhone actually takes much brighter closer-up shots.

Zoom feature
The primary consideration to buy a new camera is the Zoom feature. The new camera can zoom up to 40x or even 80x (however, it is hard to focus with 80x zoom). That camera is definitely much better than my old camera. It only can zoom to 4x (not a typo). FYI, I brought the old camera over 11 years ago. Therefore, it is long overdue to upgrade my PowerShot digital camera. In addition, the secondary consideration to purchasing a new camera is accessories. Therefore, I brought a bundle instead of purchasing individual accessories (i.e., individual orders for each item) such as a case, 64 GB memory card, spare battery, etc.
