works great for gigabit pfsense
I've been using this over a year and it's been flawless. I installed pfsense on it and I think it's overbuilt for just that but it's been set and forget the entire time. I just don't have to think about it it's been so reliable. I have it running the firewall between WAN and 4 VLANs and it's been great.

Great Value and well built.
I bought this to run pfsense for a home office and a household network. I went with the recommended bought-together-option of 8GB ram and 32GB of SSD. Disassembly was pretty straight forward but for SSD installation make sure you check online for the appropriate bay for installation. There's two places it can go but only one will work for the only drive installed. Getting to the bios was fast and the provided serial connection cable was easy to use. I've installed a few packages of pfsense for ad blocking and scan blocking and checking the dashboard the processor never seems pegged or overloaded. I read a few people saying it couldn't handle gigabit speeds, but my bench marks didn't change after installation and I get the speeds I'm paying for (Gigabit service). Add to it I have much more precise capability to traffic shape than my home mesh wifi system provides and I'm very happy with the install. I was able to set up guest, work and home networks that all have specific traffic volumes, so the kids can play games, but I don't have to worry about it interfering with work. I don't have a longevity on it, but so far so good.

Lasted 18 months
Died after 18 months. Started powering off and progressively got worse from maybe once a month to multiple times a day. EDIT: Protectli RMA'd my unit no questions asked so I moved them up from 1 star to 4. Item Plus: Running pfSense and get full network throughput with my 500/500 WAN connection.

Deceitful Seller Page
Listed that it included RAM and Storage at the top of the page. Didn't boot when plugged in so I circled back here and saw hidden in the page that it was a barebones model. Kind of crazy to say it includes something at the top of the page then back out at the bottom of the page.

Easy to setup, pfSense network performance was poor.
This is basically just a small computer with two network ports. I bought one of these and put 4GB RAM and a 60GB SSD in it. I tried to use it as a basic router with pfSense on it, and the performance was awful. I had to remove it and put my Edgerouter ERX back in place. I don't know if the performance problem was with pfSense, or with the network ports. Installing the RAM and SSD was easy. I tried to load pfSense from a DVD, but it would never complete booting. I setup a USB stick to boot and load pfSense, and it was quick and easy. Performance of the computer itself seems good, but network performance with version 2.4.4-RELEASE-p2 (amd64) of pfSense was awful. I tried enabling and disabling the various hardware offload options. I also tried disabling the firewall so it was just a basic router, since that was mostly what I wanted, but it did not help. There was a consistent packet loss upstream, and between the WAN port and the modem. It averaged around 50% but was never lower than 30% and would go up to 80%. I got tired of experimenting just to try to get it to work, and ended up returning it as defective.
