WORKS FLAWLESSLY.. Read for how to and thorough info!
Read in entirety: I purchased a Technic turntable, old-school, have a complete zone home ent. system, using sonos as well as wired speakers with the HTD control module and amp. I hooked up this system myself, I am very tech savvy, takes alot to stump me... Now that that's out of the way. The turntable I purchased used is a mid to high grade Technic, came with a Pyle preamp that had no ground, turntable did not come with ground wire either, this is important, noted later. I initially connected the turntable to the preamp "in" that I had, not this new one, with no ground, then connected the preamp "out" to my receiver "in", then receiver "out" to my controller "in", no sound and loud annoying hum. I then tried to connect the preamp "out" to my sonos connect "line in" bypassing the receiver, same results, then tried connecting directly to my controller, same results. Researched, completely baffled, did I lose my techi touch? Scratching head, discouraged, defeated? Not on your life! I ordered a factory ground wire for my turntable and this preamp with the ground connection, then... I started all over again preforming the same connections as before but with the turntable ground wire connected, initial loud hum happened, then went away and had dead silence. Scratching head again. NOTE TO THOSE CONNECTING TO RECEIVER OR OTHER THAN AN IN WALL HOME SYSTEM... the most important thing to know, if you connect this preamp and put it too close to an amplifier or other high electric output it will still hum, this needs to be seperated a little bit, keep reading. My final setup is removing my receiver altogether, turntable to "in" on preamp, preamp "out" to sonos connect "in", sonos is connected to controller, ground wire connected to turntable and preamp. Placed preamp next to turntable on shelf above controller and amplifier, only about 6 to 8 inches apart but shelf appears to add a buffer. Everything on, no hum, but no sound. Tilting head questioning again, more googling. For my system, my controller controls the volume up and down not the music source, I had to put the sonos sound level for the line in to 10, auto delay to medium, autoplay on to include grouped rooms but turned off autoplay volume, this makes it so music will start once the needle hits the vinyl, line out level is pass through because I have a controller, and wala, sound. Now it will play on my sonos without me using my HTD controller but it won't hit my wired speakers in group until I turn that on but when I do it all works. IMPORTANT GROUND WIRE and PREAMP NOTE... If you have a turntable that has a built in preamp you should not need this, read up on your system as some newer ones have one built in and it's a matter of flipping a switch on the turntable. If you have an old school turntable you are trying to connect to newer technology you most likely will need this AND the ground wire, the ground wire helps to disperse the bad waves to a non audible source and keeps the good sound going where it should, to simplify the why, if you do not ground your turntable you could still have a hum. Some turntables have a ground screw or plug in connection located where the red and white are plugged in, some ground points are on the under bottom of the turntable, I've seen some where you have to open the turntable to get to it, research your turntable if it has a ground point, if it does anywhere and you still have a hum, connect a ground and place the preamp away from high electric output sources. Enjoy your tunes. Good luck!

It’s a lot better than what the name suggests.
Purchased this pre-amp 6 months ago because I my reciever amp lacked the phono section. It works great and I understand any hang up since the name reputation of the product isn’t very good. If you’re like me and you wanted to listen to records but you have a newer AV amp without a phono input this will get you there just fine. Sound is clear, easy to install, small and tucks away so nobody can see it’s a Pyle. I wouldn’t be opposed to buying another in the future

A little finnicky with levels and EQ, but does work well for a low cost....
It's a great little device, but has a couple of quality issues. There are no output specs on this as far as +4/-10, and usually RCA jacks would suggest -10 consumer input level. Well, when I set my mixer to -10 operation, this thing drives everything bonkers, only one side works, either left or right. It would play both for about a minute, then go back to bonkerville. I finally figured trhat using +4 Pro(usually XLR/TRS) levels(maybe that's the name Pyle Pro)......it works as it should...L&R, levels are slightly low, but clean now. The only other issue is the EQ response is not what I would consider as the right curve. The low end is just not there. I know that vinyl records were generally pressed using less low end for efficient groove cutting, but the RIAA curve is supposed to compensate and flatten the response to a better frequency response. It's a good thing I have EQ on the board(4 band fixed), because it needs about +2db at 12K, -2db at 3K, +2db at 500hz, and +4db at 80hz to sound right in a Studio environment, through JBL LSR25 Studio Monitors. I almost sent it back, but there's nothing else out there at this price point, so I'm just living with the fact that it needs EQ from my console for listening and transfers to CD. So, for the price, it does the job and I'm happy with a small device that brought my Technics Linear Turntable back from the ashes(had to clean(old dried lube clogged it up and threw the small belt), re-lubed, etc......had been sitting boxed for over 20yrs).

Works great and no hum!
Works great! I read a lot of things about noise or humms in other preamps but this has no hum that we could hear! Very happy with this purchase.

Awesome mini pre amp
My Sony receiver did not have a built in phono amplifier. It made my technics turntable unusable but this compact phono amp saved the day. Super easy to set up.

Works Great
I purchased my Yamaha stereo during that period in the 90's when few amps and receivers had phono capabilities. For awhile now, I've had to listen to my records in my basement on an old Pioneer, which is nice, but I've always wanted to hear my music in my living room. While replacing my stylus at a well reputed stereo shop here in Seattle, I saw the PP444 on the shelf. After doing some research and reading reviews, I decided to give this unit a try. I couldn't be happier. My turntable now works with all my other components... everything, including my HDTV, comes out of the Yamaha stereo. I'm in audio heaven. Time to invite some friends over for music night. The unit is well built with a small metal case and solid connectors; even the ground is a sturdy brass screw. There is an unobtrusive green indicator light to let you know the unit is operating. The compact size of the unit allows me to put it conveniently out of the way. From my perspective, the sound is great (though I don't much care for the sound quality of MP3s, I'm not much of an audiophile). Amazon's price was great, too: More than half of the price charged by the stereo shop. I wanted to buy local but hey, Amazon is local for me. I ordered this Saturday night. With the two day shipping for Prime customers, this was on my doorstep at Noon on Tuesday. With Amazon's return policy, this was a no-brainer, worry free investment. So glad to have stumbled across this in the first place!! NOTE: You will need separate (not included) RCA cables to connect this unit to your stereo. If your turntable doesn't have cables, you'll need a second set to connect it to the preamp.

Bad
Worked for about maybe 25 sessions. Then it started dropping the right channel. I started troubleshooting and there was nothing in the chain except this device that was causing it. Occasionally I was able to wiggle one of the RCA jack cords and it would work for a little while. If you're looking for a preamp that works only when it wants to, this is the item for you.

Small, simple and inexpensive solution
I found an old turntable and initially connected the turntable output to computer speakers. Terrible idea--the sound was too low, even with the volume turned up. So I proceeded to connect the turntable RCA jacks to an old Panasonic FM/AM tuner with a PHONO input. The sound was better, but had to turn the volume control to max to get decent sound, at which point hum was evident in the silent passages. Eventually decided on buying the PYLE PP444 phono turntable preamp. The preamp itself is a small silver metal box, and is supplied with an AC adapter. I plugged the AC adapter into a surge protector together with the turntable and tuner, since there is no ON/OFF switch. A small green LED on the box lets you know it's ON. I needed another set of RCA cables (not supplied) to connect the output of the preamp to the PHONO input of the Panasonic tuner. My turntable had no ground wire, so I had nothing to connect that to the ground nut on the preamp, but it's good that it's available should I need it. The sound was pretty solid after hooking this preamp in between the turntable and tuner. I can crank up the volume now! I could never figure out if this preamp is a RIAA-compensated, but for the price, I didn't care since the sound was great. No hum or audible noise as well. The bottom line is, if your receiver/tuner has no PHONO input (or if it has one, but the sound is still too low), get the PYLE PP444!

Excellent Preamp
I bought this device on July 14 2014. It has worked flawlessly ever since to boost my vintage 1981 Technics turntable signal to a modern receiver with no preamp on board. Excellent sound and no interference noise at all. My vinyl collection is played regularly thanks to this little preamp.

Funciona y mejora
Lo probé con una AT-LP120 y funciona, el sonido mejoro y subió, se escucha más volumen que con el pre amplificador interno del tocadiscos, buen producto.

Five Stars
Very fair price for the value of being able to hear vinyl on your turntable. I thought this Pyle PP444 had died on me after a month of use, but actually, I had forgotten that I just had to turn up the volume on the receiver. Need to turn down the receiver volume when using other devices like the TV. It works great...so uplifting to hear my old albums, thanks to this device that is so simple to use. The videos stink that are out there, and I can't believe that whoever owns Pyle lets the link from their website show the most ridiculous video as their sole video. I do not know what the little knob is for, however, and no instructions come with the device.

Buen producto a buen precio
