Excellence 99% Cocoa Bar

I'm a major chocoholic, and when I learned about the health benefits of higher concentrated dark chocolate I had to give it a try. I started off with 90% or so, and predictably I wasn't prepared for the chalky bitterness and spit it out. I knew the higher cacao percent would be different, but this was nowhere near the typical sugary sweet milk chocolate that's popular today! I then tried it again with 82%... not bad, not bad. Much easier to get into. Just a little bitter, but still very, very enjoyable. The time after that was spent experimenting with different brands and getting mixed results. I wanted to go up to 99% and decided to order this one off Amazon after I couldn't find the bar in Whole Foods, Trader Joe's, Whole Market, etc. One thing I love about this "bar" is that it's actually just a bunch of small chocolate squares pre-cut and arranged. Perfect for sampling/handing out for others to try. As for the taste itself... interesting. The first bite caught me off guard, and memories of my first ever dark chocolate experience came flooding back to me. Initially very bitter, but after a few more squares and experimentation it actually became quite delicious. The key to full appreciation is to just let it melt in your mouth. Place the square on your tongue and enjoy the flavors slowly release. Going back the next day, I've also discovered this stuff is great in coffee! Overall it's very good, but it's definitely an acquired taste. Don't let the initial bitterness deter you, this is delicious! If you've never had dark chocolate before, I highly recommend starting lower (around 50-70% cacao) and working your way up.

Absolutely horrible! They only sent 3 bars and charged a fortune for them, over $40. I made a mistake, don't make the same one.

This has got to be the best chocolate bar around, for anyone who loves dark chocolate and is doing their best to minimize sugar in their diet. The flavor is rich and multi-dimensional, with overtones of roasted nibs dancing on the tastebuds with every smooth bite. The chocolate has just the right texture and smoothness, melting on a hot day if held for a few minutes in one's hand, and melting at just the most delicious rate in one's mouth. I love how just a small taste of this chocolate satisfies my chocolate cravings--the way a much larger amount of less dark chocolate would do. I love all Lindt chocolates, and this bar is currently my number one favorite chocolate bar of all time.

One of the best dark chocolates I have ever had in terms of taste. Texture quality is great and sweetness is at the right amount. I took out one star because of the packaging/shipping issue -- it came with only one bars instead of four!! Amazon Support was able to resolve the issue for me.

My wife placed an order for a quantity of 2 "Lindt Excellence 85% Cocoa Dark Chocolate 4-3.5oz bars" from Hikvision 12. She should have received eight 3.5 bars but just received 2 bars. I was going to quickly return them for a refund but found out in the Amazon return process that these can't be returned. I then contacted Hikvision 12 by email through Amazon and they first replied that we would receive a partial refund. I replied that this would be great. Then later they replied that they changed their mind and would be giving us a full refund instead. Which we received. I don't actually give 5 star reviews, for nothing is perfect. So I actually give Hikvision 12 a 4.8 star review for going above and beyond.

I always get 99 when I'm abroad, but the one from here is just bad. The chocolate doesn't melt in ur mouth, instead its like how I imagine eating chalk is like. The flavor is completely gone. The chocolate is also oxidized when I opened the box. Do not order ur dark chocolate from Amazon, save ur self the disappointment and order from international sellers. Might take longer but the taste is much better

I am not a gourmet aficionado on chocolate, but this was far better than a similar 99% bar branded by and sold by World Market. My problem is that this bar is half the weight (1.8 oz, compared to 3.5 oz for every other Lindt bar), and twice the price, so basically 4X total cost. The bar is super thin. I think it is not worth the price premium, and the 90% bar will be my standard from now on. The 90% Lindt is a more pleasurable taste experience (and better value), but that's my opinion. I have been eating 90% for quite a while and avoid any more sugar than that, so my taste buds were properly acclimated.

I got this for my husband since he's got high blood pressure, but, loves chocolate. When it first arrived (perfectly fine in hot weather, too. I was worried about that.), but he ate about half of an entire bar. He wound up having to go to bed. Just use discretion to avoid a tummy ache.

The chocolate arrived in a perfect condition, as I collected the parcel a day later.. I thought the chocolate might've melted by then, surprisingly it was still solid and perfect! As for the taste, it's too strong for those who love sweet milk chocolate, so please don't expect it to be sweet. This is totally made for those who love dark chocolate, it's rich and has a very subtle minty flavor. Not for kids! They will absolutely hate it's flavor!😂

The chocolate lives up to the expectations. Wonderful flavor if you love dark chocolate. You could feel the warmth of melting dark chocolate on your tongue.. The original packaging of chocolate was great but amazon packaging and handling made it bad, the chocolate was bent and cover was damaged.

Buono. D'altronde è Lindt. Però 99% è davvero eccessivo. Per me l'ideale è tra 70 e 75%, non di più.
