It will never look like chrome. Only 2 paints do that and they cost $200+ I could take to dip in chrome if I had 2 hours to drive there. But The reason I give this 4 over 3 stars is it's tough paint. most paint you can scratch with your finger nail. Not this stuff. Only one shipping charge will be added. **Q: Will a dark base coat improve the results for bare aluminum or not required at all?** A: I agree with the black base. I just coated two Packard hubcaps from 1941, and started out with flat black. The caps were not in good enough shape to actually be re-chromed, so I gave this a shot. As with all powder coatings surface prep is important.
