Grouptronics GTDVD-181 Compact Multi Region DVD Player & Karaoke Player with USB, HDMI & Scart Output - Easy Setup

This is a compact, neat and stylish little machine. It is very simple to set-up, and it does the job perfectly. I have tested it with both region 1 and region 2 dvds and it plays both well. For the price, it's a bargain!

This really is a good value product. It's cheap, simple and functional. Makes a little noise when it's what I call idling, but really is a very good little player. I say little because it's compact, fits very neatly almost anywhere. Very easy to use and has all the functions any reasonable person could want. Yes it plays all the regions of dvds that I have. It's not the Rolls Royce of players but at this price it is exceedingly good value. Oh and last but not least, great service from these "monkeys" (see sellers name) speedy delivery and tracking so good that you can watch the delivery guy drive round your town, down your street and meet him/her at the door before they even knock!

I bought this model mainly for the ability to play multi-region discs, as well as both PAL and NTSC. DVD players are easily available at a much cheaper price, but not many do other countries as well as region 2 / UK. It's nice and compact, not a full width, so may not fit into a full stack of units, but the selling point for me was the blue light at the front - I'm easily satisfied! As others have said, the buttons on the remote are tiny and it is hard to read the labels to see what each one does. Likewise, the buttons on the unit itself are hard to see what they do - but once you have memorised them it is pretty straightforward. Having tested it, this DVD player does indeed play both PAL and NTSC discs, and multiple regions. However, the one main con for me is the remote control uses the same frequencies as other remotes, so every time I pressed a button on the DVD remote my projector would flash up an error message! The main pro for me would be a volume control on the DVD remote; many DVD players do not have this and it is very useful to not have to scramble for the TV/projector remote just to change the volume. If you want to play DVD's from other regions then this is good, otherwise it's not as cheap as other options.

I was looking for an easy to use, straightforward DVD player that was reasonably priced, to go with the TV in the conservatory, and this player fits the bill perfectly. It was a doddle to set up, excellent picture quality and terrific value for money. The player was delivered less than 24 hours after I placed the order and it was well packaged, you can't say fairer than that. I am very pleased with my purchase and wouldn't hesitate to recommend both the product and the seller, who contacted me shortly after delivery to offer support in the unlikely event that I had problems with the setup or the unit itself. I would happily buy again from 3wisemonkeys.

When this arrived, I just gave the instruction book a quick once over and set it up. YOU WILL NEED AN HDMi CABLE TO DO SO, or scart lead. MY BIGGEST MISTAKE was that when it was all set up, I did not go into the menu to configure the settings for the microphone (if you dont have one you will need to buy one). I plugged the mic in, put a karaoke disc in, got it rolling and any noise through the mic was just awful with the echoing. I became very frustrated because I also have a soundbar connected to my tv and I thought I could connect the dvd player to the soundbar and everything would be ok. WRONG! When I got up this morning after thinking about the situation, I tried again. This time I did not turn the soundbar on, I just used the volume on the tv. PERFECTION. Although I am a 77 year old lady with not a lot of techi knowhow, I gave myself a tap on the back (cos there is nobody else to give me one). It was only then that I went into the menu which I should have done as soon as everything was set up, and in the sound menu, there are lots of things you are able to do to suit your situation including grading the echo. I did the seller an injustice by sending a message (out of frustration) and now I shall send another message with sincere apologies. This very reasonably priced item is one of the best things I have bought recently, saying that it doubles up as a Karaoke machine. Although it states in the description it plays bluray like dvd's, I have a Bluray player and it is nothing like as good. However, it does what it says on the box, and you will not be disappointed.

Simple to set up and if you can work a remote, then you can set it up easily. Good picture and sound on all reguion discs without trouble. The basic instructions are easy to follow, but sadly no instructions on the menu set up. I went into menu and you can change sound, picture, regions, etc but without any instructions I did not know if I had chosen stereo/mono, the right colour/signal and so on. However despite my concerns it all seems to work well and the quality so far is very good. Worth the money. I can recommend it. (hope you understand the menu better than me!!)

This product arrived on the due date and was a straightforward plug and play, as described by other reviewers. Rather than use the scart lead as I had intended, I chose to connect the manufacturer-supplied HD cable. My first impressions are that ease of use, picture and sound quality are fully satisfactory and the fact that the manufacturer has provided a free HD cable, external audio cables and handset batteries makes this a very good all round package.

This makes it worse than Majority. My Majority machine lasted less than seven weeks before it started sounding like it had road works going on inside the casing. Then discs started to not play properly. THIS MACHINE however is even worse!. I can't get it to work as I am not sitting three feet from the DVD player. The remote refuses to work properly or at all if it's 6 foot or more from the DVD player. My couch is that at least. Even holding the remote up and out as if directly aiming it at the player doesn't work. This machine isn't even 20 minutes out the box and already I'm raging. Poor design being paraded as quality. Almost £34 I paid for this. I am now adding Grouptronics to the list of manufacturers of DVD Players to avoid based exclusively on my own experience. Grouptronics. Majority. In that order. Imagine paying £500+ price for this Grouptronics unit in or around 2000. Which some DVD players were priced at (and more) back in the day. Nah.

Nach der Bestellung dachte ich noch, ist das richtig was ich da bestellt habe? Als ich dann das Gerät auspackte u. in meine HIFI - Anlage 5.1 einbaute u. dann das Klangvolumen zu hören bekam, war sofort begeistert. Bei diesen Preis ! diese Wiedergabequalität! Es war absolut die richtige Entscheidung. Wer allerdings die gängisten Begriffe - Bezeichnungen u. kein Englisch versteht, hat Probleme, da es keine Bedienungsanleitung in " Deutsch" gibt. Auch im Internet nicht möglich. Gruß Gerd
