Great mic
I tried ever possible combination in order to get a lav mic to work with my iPhone 6s+... the headphone jack needs a trrs and not just a trs, so I got a trrs adaptor... the lav mic I had still didn’t work after trying 2 different versions of this adaptor... I tried using a lightening to 3.5mm adaptor to go with the lav mic I had... didn’t work. At this point I’m getting frustrated. Finally I decided it was my $130 sennheiser lav mic that was the problem. I bought this $50 lav mic and hooked it up to my iPhone 6s+ with a trrs adaptor and it worked perfectly. Turns it there is something specific that the sennheiser lav mic just doesn’t like about being used with trrs adaptors to iPhones. Funny enough, I can use that exact sennheiser lav mic directly into my canon 60d (it came with a wireless kit for use with these types of cameras) and the sennheiser lav mic works just fine. So... this mic worked great and has more than adequate audio quality for the price. 6ish ft of wire is a plus as well... thanks to the guy on YouTube who recommeneddd this lav mic (likely not knowing he was solving 2 problems in 1).

Great mic, read how to use it.
It tool me many tries and years to finally get what I wanted out of this mic. Does it record to a dlsr camera yes, (caution) "the mic need a little power for it to work, so for example if you plug it into a mixer with no phantom power it will not work. As the instructions say, don't hook up to mixer with phantom power it will destroy your mic." With that said, it's a hit or miss when it would work well, or not. I would prefer if the 3.5mm connection was just straight now the L shape. When connecting to a camera, because of it body shape you don't always get a good clean connection thus maybe only left channel picked up, or very buzzy sound. When it connects good yes its great, but if the connect wiggles just a little all hope fir your audio is gone. However the saving grace is to buy the Rode VXLR PRO. it has a built It Transformer. Meaning, with the Rode VXLR PRO you can use phantom power from a mixer to power the mic and it won't blow it up. Finally I can use a lave mic with my mixer or portable audio interface on the go anywhere with the giant squid, the audio from it is insane!

Giant Squid Audio Lab Omnidirectional Lavalier mic
Just got & tested it today. Recording it threw my Zoom h1 , and Sony ICD-PX312 recorders. I noticed right away this mic was hot enough that I didn't have to turn my input level past 50% on my Zoom h1 and it recorded noiselessly and with a nice bassier sound same as my Rode VideoMic & I like that. I only had a RadioShack Lav mic that takes a button cell battery & is a pain in the Ax*$ trying to record with, because I would just get threw recording something and notice I hadn't flipped the switch on the RadioShack POS. Recording with that POS , I would get low sound levels. Having to turn it up in post, or having to set my Zoom h1 input levels up to 75% or higher to hear the recording & then hear the room noise levels because I had to turn the input level so high. I was pleasantly suprized how well my recording was threw the Giant Squid in to the Sony ICD-PX 312 . Nice bassy sound just as with the Zoom h1. I thought my Sony recorder was a POS until today. If I would have purchased this Giant Squid before. I wouldn't have shelled out that $100 for the Zoom h1. Though the Sony only records in MP3...This Giant Squid makes recording much more acceptable . The build quality is high, and recording quality is high as well . It does not require a battery, just plug in and record. Also, something you don't see very often is MADE IN U.S.A., in PA. Thus the five star rating. Before you blame your recorder for poor quality. I suggest you try this lavalier microphone. It may just save you $100.

Simply amazing and helped me in a tough bind.
I’m using the microphone with the Synco TS UHF system due to the Scynco stock mics being atrocious for sound. I had just finished two interviews using a Sony lavalier mic and much to my disappointment was only better than the Synco mics due to being able to EQ out the flaws which was impossible with the Syncos. The last interview was mine. I was on a time crunch because of work and on my way home I got notification that the Giant Squid was delivered. Already on the low key frustrated side I figured it’s been a crap show anyway why not test the Giant Squid and fix it as well if I have another issue. TO MY SURPRISE! There was very little to zero clips in the audio after a faster set up than all the other previous mics. I have the biggest voice of everyone doing the interviews so I was very concerned with how my audio would sound. If I would have EQ’d the audio picked up by this mic, it would have been to degrade the sound to match the Sony, but I wouldn’t have been able to degrade it to match the Syncos without bringing the levels all the way up passed clipping. I have since ordered two more Giant Squids and will keep a surplus to prevent not having one if something happens on set to the currently used Squids. This mic is amazing and pics up everything that is needed with the Synco TS UHF wireless set up. I can’t wait to EQ up instead of to degrade in the next videos next week.

Love this little mic! Well built, and sounds great!
I've purchased two of these so far, and will likely add more! I often use this mic directly into a Zoom H1, rather than messing with wireless transmitter/receiver setups, and I just sync audio in post. It's very well built, and the only possible complaint would be the windscreen may come loose. If you have any issues with the windscreen, I found these excellent replacements on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B017J3R2S8 The replacement windscreens I ordered (link above) are a little tight to get on, but once they're on, they don't ever fall off. I like the 90° 3.5mm plug. It's perfect for use with the Zoom H1 (or anything similar), because it doesn't stick out; which makes things easier. The clip that comes with it is very sturdy. I also ordered a RØDE vampire clip, but found out that the diameter on this mic is larger than the RØDE, so keep that in mind when ordering accessories. Another reviewer commented on build quality, but I can't understand why. This is a solid mic, and I have had no problems with my first mic, which is why I ordered a second one.

I bought this lav mic on a YouTube recommendation and liked the sound of it with my ZOOM H1 recorder
Don't buy one of these. Unless you would buy a car for which you could not buy spare tires. I bought this lav mic on a YouTube recommendation and liked the sound of it with my ZOOM H1 recorder; so I bought another one to be able to use two mics on an interview. They worked great together with my Zoom H1. BUT THEN....I tried to use them outside under shirts with a bit of wind noise. Nothing but irritation from then on. My friend lost the teenie tiny flimsy wind screen that came with it. I tried Radio Shack and every music store in town to find wind screens for it to no avail. So I emailed Audio Lab and received a quick response ...that was WRONG. Audio recommended a Tetra-Teknica MNWSDP mini-size Microphone Windscreen from Amazon; so I ordered a pack of twelve of them. The Giant Squid is 3/8 inch diameter; the MNWSDP screen has a 1/8 in hole which cannot be stretched to fit on the mic. I live on a bay on Puget sound, so now how many days do you think I'll be able to use a Giant Squid lav mic without wind screens? Why the heck doesn't Audio Lab at least make those flimsy things available to purchaser of their mics? Don't ask me - I WON'T BE BUYING ANY MORE of their mics. UPDATE: I stand with my comments above. However, because I only now use the Giant Squid indoors and don't need the wind screens, I have be satisfied with the mics and their performance.

These are actually great lav microphones!
I bought two of these lavaliere microphones for a documentary shoot to accompany two Tascam Dr-05 audio recorders for interviews. When I was testing out the microphones I listened to them in use (with headphones in the Line Out of the Tascam) and the sound quality wasn't good, but after listening to playback (from the micro SD card on my computer) the sound quality is perfect! Don't be fooled if this happens to you too, these are actually great lavaliere microphones!! It was surprisingly difficult to find good lavaliere microphones that were affordable, thank you Giant Squid Audio Lab for making these! They truly are excellent and I will be using them for interviews and general dialogue capture for film shoots. Excellent product.
