Gardyn Home 4 Vertical Hydroponics Growing System Kit - 30 Plants

OMG! I began my Gardyn Home on April 1st and absolutely adore this system. So easy. I did the subscription and it seems so expensive but the amount of assistance the subscription gives you and the savings on purchases is worth it. The food reaped is ongoing and the most delicious I ever tasted. I know my plants are healthy, exceptionally tasty and safe to eat and share with neighbors. I am getting another one. I do wait until the price of the Gardyn goes down 200$. This happens a few times per year.

Gardyn is truly amazing. I did my research on different systems, read the reviews and decided to give Gardyn 4.0 a shot. I have not been disappointed. The product arrived in perfect condition. The packaging was solid, the various parts were held firmly in place and everything was where it should be. It's what you'd expect from quality product. The unpacking was easy and the instructions on setup were great. I highly recommend using the UR code to link to the setup videos. They are each about a minute long and they make the whole thing super simple. Once everything was in place I plugged it in and connected to my wifi. They recommend waiting about 5 minutes the first time you turn it on. After that it took about 2 minutes to go through the process to connect to wifi and I was done. A few tips to make the initial setup easy. Each of the plant pods (they call yCubes) has a position the Gardyn for optimal growing. You can find charts in the app or on their site that will help you place the plants in the perfect spot. They also have a AI system called Kelby. This system does basically everything for you. It turns the lights on/off, waters the plants when they need it and will tell you when to fertilize. I do not have a green thumb so this is perfect for me. It really is a set it and forget it system. I did make a small change on when the lights turned on and off but other than that they are managing the growing. The seeds started to grow in less than a week. I'm a few weeks in and the plants are getting bigger and I will post a picture when everything is ready to harvest. It really is a fun system and I can't wait to have my first salad and tomatoes. The device is expensive, works for what is supposed to do. However, the company puts what should be free capabilities behind a paywall... Nerfing the product. We paid way too much for it and then the company expects us more money every month for it to function as it should. (On top of buying their seed starters, plant food, etc...) So we have it, and it works, but I refuse to pay the subscription and as such don't get a lot of the benefits that they advertise for the product.

I opened this and with the help of my 12 yr old we were able to set it up in about 30 minutes. I let it do its thing and within a week I have tiny plants growing in my classroom. My particular school does not allow devices to connect to the school wifi unless they are school-owned, so I can't speak to how the app works. I just keep it filled with water and I plan to add some plant food every other week. The plants are a great addition to my classroom. The footprint is small enough that we can enjoy the plants without tripping over the system. The light is bright on the plants so I am confident the plants will do well even in indirect light in my classroom. I am happy with this purchase and would recommend to any teacher for an interesting addition to the classroom. Just check with your IT dept. that you will be able to connect it to WIFI if that is something that is important to you.

Previously owned an earlier model. Putting the Gardyn Home 4 was a relatively simple task. I’m disabled but was able to easily manage it. It looks nice. You have a set light and watering cycle or you can customize it to fit your needs. Be sure to set the right time zone so your lights will turn on and off at the appropriate times. I would have given it a 5 star rating except for the difficulty pairing it with my WiFi. I had issues with a stable WiFi connection. The main issue is that it will only connect to a 2.4ghz WiFi. My router was supposed to be able to tell what frequency the device needed and connect at the 2.4ghz if required. The connection wouldn’t hold. I had to go in and split the signal of the router where I had a separate 5ghz and a 2.5ghz connection point. I still couldn’t get the device to pair until I switched my phone to the 2.5ghz connection as well. I also had to leave the phone on the Gardyn to get it to pair. Probable almost a two hour effort with multiple attempts and troubleshooting. Gardyn, you might want to add a 5ghz version to make it easier for your customers to use. 🤣 Update. I’ve had the Gardyn for 2 months. I’ve had a multiple salads. My tomatoes are large enough that I should start seeing some ripe ones soon. I’ve used some off brand plant cubes, recycled a few cube and bought rockwool so I can grow my own plants. For an easy hack, when you buy some green onions, plant them in the Gardyn and you can harvest them for a long time. Just leave enough of the plant, so it can keep growing. Many of the plant cubes will also sprout multiple plants that need to be thinned out. If you are gentle, you can remove the plant with only a little harm to the roots and place them in another prepared cube. It gives you multiple plants for each one you order from Gardyn. Overall, it’s not a perfect system. You have to tinker with the light settings to fit your schedule. The Gardyn does take some effort to get everything going right. Cleaning and refreshing the tank is a chore. Since I live in a condo and don’t have a proper space for a traditional garden, this allows me to enjoy growing some food and flowers. I can do it in the comfort of my air conditioned living room. I’m still happy with my purchase.

Let me tell you how much I love this product! Was a Christmas gift for my husband who was having a hard time growing stuff in dirt. Wanted to try something different and give him a victory in growing vegetables. The Gardyn concept was fail proof as long as you follow the instructions and add in the nutrients when instructed. It was tall and compact so we were able to make it fit in a tight space. This project was so gratifying for him because it gave him results he could feed the family with. Watching him light up each time he saw something new was more than worth the price. He was excited the whole time. We had veggies in a couple months and got tired of eating the weird types of lettuce that the pack came with, so we gave the rest to the bunnies. Nothing went to waste. To reset and start over, The cleaning process was a little lengthy and tedious because we had to take everything apart and soak in vinegar and water. Then reassemble. But this time we are putting in things we want to grow. The first round was important though because it took us through all the steps of growing and learning about hydroponics. Keep in mind that this system works fast because the grow lights are on about 16 hours a day, so find a home where the lights won’t bother you. Now we understand the process and are ready to grow again. It’s exciting for even the kids to see it grow every day a little, but so rewarding when we can serve it for a meal! Would highly recommend this product.

Family members have given other Gardyn towers they purchased on Amazon, and while they work, the plants don’t receive the necessary water and lighting for long-term and healthy growth. Unlike other growing systems, the Gardyn provides recommendations and training to help you on your gardening journey. Setting up the Gardyn is easy, and it’s easy to clean. It comes with detailed instructions to guide you through your Gardyn journey. The water reservoir is also larger per gallon. Plus, it looks beautiful in your home. It’s definitely eye-catching when guests see that you have a Gardyn in your living space. It becomes the center of conversation. In terms of quality, the Gardyn surpasses other hydroponic systems I’ve used. I’ve never had any issues germinating the seeds provided with each new plant. Every plant that has been added has produced a bountiful harvest. I enjoyed my Gardyn so much that I decided to purchase a second one. Now, the feng shui in my dining room is well-balanced. It’s small enough to fit any small space but large enough to accommodate 30 plants. I’ve listed several pros of the Gardyn. The only con is related to their Kelby AI. Unfortunately, you need a separate membership for each system, but Kelby AI is free for the first 30 days. This membership helps you learn and understand what you need to do regularly to maintain your system and care for your garden from germination to harvest. Additionally, the membership offers discounts on purchases, including plant food and seeds. Customer Service: My second Gardyn was ordered on a Wednesday and arrived by Friday. However, the lid arrived with cosmetic damage. Despite submitting an email on Friday afternoon, customer service responded to me on Saturday afternoon, a non-business day. They were very understanding of the situation and offered to provide a replacement lid. This exceptional customer service is a strong reason to choose Gardyn over other brands. Their competitors are not as responsive or accommodating when it comes to product defects. I was amazed and relieved by their support.

Update (see new pic): This thing is incredible! So simple! We have no gardening experience and we’re now doing our first harvest! I can’t say enough good things about the Gardyn Hydroponic 4.0 System! This product has truly been a game-changer for our family. We’ve always wanted to eat healthier, and now it’s easier than ever to grow our own fresh herbs, vegetables, and greens right at home. The system is so user-friendly and efficient—I’ve seen incredible results in just a few weeks. A big shoutout to Kelby for making everything even more seamless!
