## Overview

The Behringer C-2 is a matched pair of professional true condenser microphones designed for studio and live applications. Featuring ultra-wide frequency response (20 Hz–20 kHz), cardioid pickup for feedback elimination, and high SPL handling (150 dB), these mics deliver crystal-clear, natural sound for acoustic instruments, vocals, and overheads. With switchable low-cut and attenuation options, the C-2 offers versatile control, making it a top choice for discerning audio professionals seeking precision and reliability.

## Description

From the manufacturer C-2 microphones are built to capture the performance of a choir, piano or any other vocal or acoustic sound source to provide a beautiful true-to-life sound. Sold in perfectly matched pairs, these outstanding C-2 mics are ideal for acoustic guitars and overhead drum studio and live sound applications. What is a Condenser Microphone? A condenser mic is the ideal choice for capturing vocals or acoustic instruments, either in live or recording settings. By their very nature, condenser microphones are much more sensitive than dynamic microphones, enabling them to pick-up even the subtlest of signals. Thanks to their cardioid (heart-shaped) pattern, C-2 microphones pickup your source signal while rejecting off -axis sounds that can ruin an otherwise perfect recording. Another difference between condenser and dynamic mics is they contain active circuitry that requires phantom power (+48 V DC) for operation. You can power them from any phantom power equipped BEHRINGER XENYX mixer – plus enjoy the benefits of our state-of-the-art XENYX mic preamps. Sound That Astounds Once connected to your sound system, you’ll notice these twin pro-caliber microphones have exceptionally-flat frequency response (an average boost of 4 dB between 1 kHz- 8 kHz). For those of you new to condenser mics, this basically means you’ll get a slightly brighter sound, that will give the perfect shape to cymbals and overhead miking. Acoustic pianos and choirs will also benefit greatly from this frequency response. The cardioid pickup pattern provides unparalleled sound source separation and feedback rejection. C-2 mics contain ultra low-noise transformerless FET input circuitry that can handle extreme dynamics (from 20 Hz to 20 kHz) and have a maximum sound pressure level of 150 dB. C-2 mics also feature a switchable low-frequency rolloff to eliminate infrasonics (mic handling and wind noise), as well as a switchable 10 dB input attenuation to accommodate for hot signals, such as a really loud vocalist – or overzealous cellist.

## Questions & Answers

**Q: Has anyone used these mics for a church choir? Do you believe that these will work well for a church choir?**
A: We have a small "underground" church and our choir sings in an isolated room due to limited space in the main hall. Using these mics, we are heard in the main hall as if we are actually there. We used to have miking problems before and these guys instantly solved them. The result is the same whenever we are in bigger venues where we share the same hall. Really warm and responsive. We are a choir of 7 to 15 singers by the way.

We've been using them for almost 3-years now and they never failed us. If they get lost or broken, we won't hesitate to buy again.

I also tried recording with it (vocals + acoustic guitar) and I am so pleased with the result. I'm buying a pair for my personal use and will just use my trusty Shure PG81 to mic my amp.

**Q: Has anyone use these on drums? live, recording or even a rehearsal that you mixed down with bass, guitar, horns, mutiple singers ect..?**
A: These mics can work fairly well as overheads for drums, or on a hi hat. You might even get decent results on acoustic guitar, small percussion devices like wind chimes, etc. Since they are small diaphragm condensers they aren't meant to pick up an entire band with complete accuracy as a stereo pair. Of course they can record all the instruments, voices etc you described if the sources are set up properly and the sound is balanced in your recording space, but they won't provide a balanced frequency response, especially in the bass and low-mid regions. I have a pair and use them occasionally for non critical applications. For the money, they are ok at best, but they will not provide the quality sound that a well-made matched-pair of large diaphragm condensers would. Names like AKG, Sennheiser, Shure, Rode, Audio Technica and Neumann are just a few companies that make truly professional mics that would get the job done properly.

**Q: What do these mics come with? (single or 2 pack mic, cables, stand adapters, ect...)**
A: If I remember correctly.... it's a 2-pack of mics with mic stand adapters. When I bought them, I don't remember them coming with windscreens. It would have been nice, but I definitely didn't get a dual mic stand adapter (stereo-bar). I just check Behringer's website, and they don't mention what accessories the mics come with. I checked PSSL, a competing store, and they mention inclusion of the stereo-bar and windscreens. They come with a carry case. You'll need XLR cables with XLRs on both ends, NOT XLR to 1/4", as they need phantom power. If your mic inputs don't provide +48 V phantom power, you'll need a 2 channel phantom power power supply, something like the Elite Core PPS-2 (here on Amazon). You can't put betteries into these mics. I've had great luck with GLS XLR cables, they're just as high a quality as the more expensive cables.

**Q: microphone work without phantom**
A: Phantom power required, but mine work ok with 15 volt power from a Powerwerks PW100T

### ⭐⭐⭐⭐ Excellent sound quality

I hooked up these to my Focusrite 6i6 interface. I find that I have to turn up the gain knobs on my focusrite to fully turn highest. Is that normal ??
