I've got a large yard, but am using this sprinkler to water only a 25x50 foot rectangular seedbed. With the sprinkler in the middle of this area, I've got it adjusted so the spray distance varies from about 13 to 25 feet. I think it could service an even smaller area if I turned down the water flow.If your yard is smaller, and is not very irregular in shape, you might want to use a small oscillating sprinkler. Keep in mind that impulse sprayers, like this Gilmour, are designed to shoot water fairly long distances because they aim in one direction at a time. The oscillating sprinklers provide more even coverage for smaller areas. **Q: Mine is shooting as much water out of the backside as it is on the lawn. Why is a strong stream of water coming off the back?** A: One time it was because the hose fitting was not perfectly round; it had been stepped on. Hammering a metal cone (from a flagpole) into the fitting restored the fitting's shape.
