Review: Unbeatable for 25 bucks! - Most of these throwers are basically the same, if you put it together right and set it up right they work fine, if you don't, you are in for a bad time. It took about 5 minutes to assemble properly (yup, even with directions and pictures I managed to put one of the parts on backwards and used the wrong bolt inside the spring). The main thing I can say is the unit needs to be stable to do its best work. I was using it alone with my foot on the back for stability which didn't work well at first, the unit jumped every time I pulled the cord and how much it moved dictated how bad the clay flight was. Then I moved over so that the front legs were hooked on a concrete parking barrier and I was standing with my foot on the back leg. Not only did it start working flawlessly. In fact, with every throw the legs dug themselves a little deeper into the gravel parking lot that I had been unable to stomp them down into at all making the unit more accurate and more consistent. After the first few awkward pulls of the cord with my hand I started standing on a fairly taught cord with my right foot and using my left foot that i had on the back of the thrower for stability to step on the string between the eyelet and trigger to release the clay. After a few minutes of that, I decided the foot 'pull' was the way to go so (as you can see in the pictures) i wrapped the string around the angle iron and now it works like a pedal. It threw consistent singles and doubles all day. I just went through 90 clays (a case) in 35 minutes. I'm an experienced shooter, hunt upland birds all the time. Make sure you bury the feet all the way into the ground. Use your feet and evenly push it into the soil.I keep my left foot on the rear of the trap. I shoot DOUBLES with shotgun safety on, and resting on my hip, I start by looking away and pulling on string with my right hand, and gradually pull, so it surprises me. The point of all of those steps for me is, I bird hunt, real birds. I almost never know when or where they are going to come from, so I practice the most un-ready position I can practically do.(I'm lefty) I put the case of clays to the right of the thrower, bend down, reset the tray with 1 hand, then load the clays. I stand up, reload the shotgun, take a second to relax and then pull.WARNING!!! The rubber strip that they warn you to ensure makes it to the end of the thrower is pre-installed! They warn you multiple times to be sure YOU install it properly. Here's the catch. THEY already installed it, and it's 1/8" short. Which means clays may crack from hitting the aluminum. ALSO...The plastic bushing the spring hooks around broke on the 12th launch. Get extra washers from Home Depot. **Q: What size disk does this take, or are they all the same?** A: Almost all disk are the same size. It will throw them all. **Q: Trying to get this for my boyfriend for christmas, does this come with everything I need?** A: It come disassembled. Trap comes in a small box with full assembly required. Basic tools for assembly. Trap is sturdy and built to last. Throwing arm has a small padded strip to prevent brakage when throwing. Spring can be tightened or loosed depending on your shooting level. Can throw 2 birds at once without any problem. This setup can be mounted to a tire with included hardware or can be pushed into the ground, however seems to pull out after every throw(just put your foot on the back stake when throwing and it will be fine). Trigger releases nicely without much effort, but the string that is attached wears out pretty quickly. End of the trigger string has a guage to keep the throwing arm width correct. Cocking the throwing arm can be tiring after a day of throwing, but it throws nicely. On average, no wind it will throw 100 ft without a problem.
