Warm, cozy and worth every penny
These Alvada Merino wool hiking socks are seriously impressive. They’re incredibly soft (not itchy at all like some wool socks), and they keep my feet warm without making them sweaty. I’ve worn them for long days out and even just around the house, and they’re comfortable the entire time—no slipping or bunching. The cushioning is just right—thick enough to feel supportive but still breathable. They also wash well and hold their shape, which is a huge plus. If you’re looking for warm, durable, and genuinely comfortable socks, these are a great buy. I’ll definitely be ordering more!

Perfect for the Winter
If you're looking for high-quality socks that can keep your feet warm and dry during winter activities, look no further than the Alvada Merino Wool Hiking Socks. These socks are an absolute must-have for anyone who spends time outdoors in colder weather, whether you're hiking, skiing, or just braving the chill of winter walks. I’ve worn these socks on several outdoor excursions, and I’m truly impressed by their performance. First off, the material is top-notch. Made from Merino wool, the socks provide incredible warmth without being overly thick or heavy. Merino wool is known for its moisture-wicking properties, and these socks definitely live up to that reputation. Even on long hikes, my feet stayed dry and comfortable — a game-changer compared to cotton socks that tend to get soggy and cold. What sets these socks apart is the perfect balance of warmth and breathability. Despite the cold temperatures outside, my feet didn’t overheat or get sweaty, which is a common issue I’ve had with other wool socks. The socks seem to regulate temperature really well, keeping my feet cozy without causing discomfort. Another standout feature is the cushioning. These socks offer just the right amount of padding, especially around the arch, heel, and toe areas. This makes them ideal not only for hiking but also for wearing with winter boots. The extra cushion provides added comfort during long treks, while still allowing for a snug, secure fit inside boots without feeling bulky. The construction of the socks also deserves mention. The stitching is solid, and they hold up well after several washes. I've worn these socks multiple times, and they’ve maintained their shape, softness, and effectiveness — no pilling, no stretching out of shape, and no loss of warmth. The 3-pack is also a great deal. It gives you the flexibility to rotate between pairs, so you always have a fresh pair ready for your next adventure. Whether you’re hitting the trails or just looking for warm socks for everyday use, these socks will have you covered. One more thing I appreciate is that they’re unisex. Whether you're a man or woman, these socks fit well and provide the same level of comfort and warmth. The fit is perfect for both regular and wide feet, and they stay in place all day without sliding down or bunching up. In summary, the Alvada Merino Wool Hiking Socks have quickly become my go-to socks for all my winter outdoor activities. They're warm, comfortable, durable, and they keep my feet dry no matter what I’m doing. If you're serious about staying warm in the winter, I highly recommend giving these socks a try — they’ll make all the difference on your next adventure.

These socks prevent blisters, hold sweat, don't smell, and may reverse callouses.
I bought 10 quantities, and didn’t realize each quantity is 4 pairs, but I’m not complaining. Buy in bulk; these get expensive to buy in a store at $20-$30 a pair, and if your activity requires these socks, you’ll go through them faster than your casual socks. My socks arrived on-time and in new condition. The socks fit comfortably and feel thick all-around. Other wool socks have extra cushion around the toes and heel, but it’s not needed if your footwear fits correctly and you replace the inner sole regularly. Cushioning around the heel and toe areas are essential to preventing blisters. A bit of background for why I chose these socks: My job at a nuclear power plant involves walking, standing, climbing on steel ladders, and moving in tight spaces in boots for up to 12 hours a day. I put in about 10,000 to 20,000 steps a day (5-10 miles a day). This includes walking on gravel, rocks, hard concrete, steel grating, sand, and common tiles and carpet for a commercial building (some surfaces of which may not be stable), and climbing on plant equipment (scaffolding / ladders / valves / pipes / pumps / tanks, etc.). Temperatures are usually around 90F to 120F (even as high as 150F in stagnant areas around steam piping). The boots I wear are composite-toe boots, up to 9 inches high, and are water-resistant, heat-resistant, electrical-resistant, chemical-resistant, and puncture-resistant (Redwing Burner XPs). It also has metatarsal guards to prevent broken bones from dropped tools (or a solid-steel door). This footwear does not provide breathability for good reason; I do not want anything outside the boot to get inside the boot at this workplace. Because of this, my feet rub under the guard, on the toes, and the heel if I don’t have enough cushion. Walking around with sweat stinging torn skin and the boot rubbing blisters until they pop and develop blisters inside-of blisters, is no fun and can stop me from making money at my job. My feet get sweaty and hot, and I need socks that soak up moisture and prevent direct rubbing on my skin, which will cause blisters and torn skin / scabs. I'm not bothered with hot feet, since the work environment is very hot and I can go to a cooler office or stand under a ventilation duct’s vent. These socks absorb a good amount of sweat for up to 12 hours, and don't smell horrible afterwards. I bring an extra pair just in case I need to switch out. Important care note: Follow the instructions EVERY time. Cold water wash. Air dry only. Use delicate cycle if your washer has it. You can get away with air-dry options of dryers, but only if the dryer or air isn't hot already. Don't leave these socks on a hot dryer, either. Use a hanger or closet rod if you decide to hang indoors. I recommend the hangers for bras; you can hang 5-6 pairs of socks on those. Hang it in an area with less than 40% humidity and they’ll be dry in less than 6 hours; this lets me dry them while I sleep in-between shifts, if I forget to wash on a day off. Note the loops on the inside of the socks on my comparison picture. The one on the left is the new sock I bought. The one on the right’s a REI 80% wool sock I bought 6 months ago. See those loops on the left sock? When those flatten out to where it looks matted, you can’t see the individual loops (the right sock), and the sock’s threads fray, replace the sock. Soon after that, the socks will thin, you'll feel toe/heel rubbing and blisters will follow. Wool socks will wear out in 2-3 washes if you use hot water. These socks can handle water at room temperature, and will hold-out against a washer or dryer’s tumbling, but DO NOT use normal or heavy-duty cycles in the dryer; the lint trap will clog up with your new sock’s fibers, fibers will fray, and your sock’s cushion will be ruined. No more fluffiness. Again, thick-wool socks hate dryer-heat. I can't stress it enough. Note on comfort and safety: Wool socks cushion your feet to prevent rubbing, minimize sogginess and the blisters that come with it. They will not fix back pain, hip pain, or heel / toe / arch pain not caused by rubbing. Your footwear must fit you; you must use in-soles that support your feet for what you’re doing, you must use proper posture for what you’re doing, and you must replace your insoles regularly. I replace my insoles every couple of months when they look flatter than when they were new, smell, have discoloration / flat spots near the toes and heel from rubbing. I replace my boots or the sole when I see the sole start to flatten or round to match my gait. If my boots looked like I could go bowling with them (sole is completely flat) or has cracks, I can slip, fall, trip, and get hurt. Your work place may be different, but at my place, there are hundreds of hazards I walk and work next to that can seriously hurt or kill me very easily. Wool socks won’t do anything about that.

Very good quality socks at a budget price. Extremely comfortable to wear.
I'm always apprehensive when I order socks online because "XL" appears to differ in size between different manufacturers. I took a chance on these based on the size chart in the listing that showed size L-XL would fit foot size 14-16. This time I was lucky. The socks fit my size 15's comfortably and snugly. I wear these when I'm in the house. They don't overheat when the temperature is very high and they keep my feet moderately warm when it gets cold. They are excellent all-around socks. The knitting is very well done and consistent. The toe ends don't have any annoying bumps or seam stitching. They stay up on my calf. I don't have to continually pull them up during the day like I do with some other socks. The ribbing on the cuff is firm and does leave a noticeable indentation in my calf after wearing them for several hours but that doesn't make them feel tight or uncomfortable, and the impression disappears after a short time when I take the socks off. I was a little worried after I washed them for the first time. Just looking at them, it appeared they had shrunk significantly. It was so noticeable, I took a comparison photo of the washed pair next to a new pair. Another interesting effect of washing that first time was that the thickness of the socks almost doubled, even though the length decreased. Then came the surprise. When I put the washed pair on after the wash (and the photo), they stretched out easily and fit just like they did before the wash. The second photo shows the washed sock on my right foot and a new unwashed on my left foot. It doesn't feel like the washing made the cuffs any tighter. What a relief. I'll be buying more of these. The Amazon listing shows a nice selection of colors. After seeing these, my adult daughter asked me to order a set for her (in a different color).

Really nice socks, but no good for tall boots.
I was looking for thick, warm, comfy and tall socks for my 10" boots. I got thick, warm and comfy. I guess three out of four ain't bad. Following the instructions to fluff them up, after removing these socks from the vacuum packaging, they shrunk to a height that isn't any taller than standard crew socks. The instructions said tumble on low, and that they would lose 1" - 2" in length. If not for the instructions, I would never have placed woolen items in the dryer, and I only tumbled them on low for about 5 minutes. Really nice socks, but no good for tall boots.

Warm, durable, cozy, supportive!
These are the warmest most comfortable socks ever!!! They are thick and almost feel cushioned. They have also held up very well in the heel where socks usually wear out. Their neutral color means I can wear them with everything. I keep re ordering. And not because they wear out but because I want to make sure I have a lifetime supply! I’m saving them. The only negative is you cannot put them in the dryer because of the wool content or they will shrink. But it’s the wool that gives the warm, cozy feeling so a small price to pay. They don’t itch. They dry out quickly if you just lay them somewhere.

Warm and great quality
I waited to write this review after I use it in the Lapland area with 0 C temperature. I used it for hours in different activities including walking around Santa Claus village for 6 hours and it kept my feet warm. It held great and is still in good condition. The whole family used it and we didn’t have any blisters and overall provided comfort especially in freezing temperatures.

Great value for money and does the job perfectly!!!
This are first expensive Socks that I bought my self till now. If you don't care about the color as me, you can buy them at discounted price, which is amazing. I bought this for my wife since she has cold feet when she goes to sleep, regardless of what she wears and how many layers! Usually she would put 2 thick socks, plus 2 blankets and still she needs 1h to warm up! Now she puts thin socks and Merino socks over them and in no time its warmer! So for our case its much better with this socks, so thumbs UP!

Doesnt warms your feet.
From India :- I ordered these socks only for one reason , to keep the feet warm.. I dont live in a place where it snows, it just goes to minimum temperature of + 5 Deg Celcius in my place . Even at this temperature these socks could not keep the feet warm. Even though stuff of socks is genuine. But the purpose didnt solve. No use of spending so much for these costly. For me feet were in same condition when i wore 100 Indian rupees Socks ( 2$ socks) ..

I highly recommend these socks and I do not buy any others
I’ve been wearing these socks for two years now and they are possibly the best socks I have ever owned. I love the 80% Merino wool content which makes them not be itchy against my skin. They don’t really get wet even though the insides of my footwear may be soaked. They may feel only very slightly damp bet even that is difficult to feel. They are well constructed. None of the stitchings or threads have come apart. And they definitely keep my feet warm in cold weather while not too warm in warm weather. They really are an amazing sock to wear. After two years of rotating between 6 pairs of these socks, they are still doing great, pretty close to brand new in form, fit, and function. I wear a pair per day, and wash them on gentle cycle in cold water after 5 pair have been worn. I use only organic very mild and gentle liquid detergent, and only 10% of the amount the detergent company would like me to use. I have not ever dried them in a dryer, as the heat always destroys the elastic on every type of garment. I only hang them on a plastic hanger to dry. About once per month if they lose their loft slightly, I may toss them in the dryer on air fluff no heat for about 5 minutes to restore the loftiness. I have worn a second sock over top of these in very cold weather, and they are usually cotton or a lesser quality of wool. The outer sock does get wet and make my feet cold, so I won’t ever do that again. To properly keep my feet dry and warm in cold weather, i have today ordered 9 pairs of this same sock in the largest size made, to pull those over the smaller sock for more insulating warmth from the cold while still keeping the moisture from my feet and socks. This is the best solution in cold temperatures. I highly recommend these socks and I do not buy any others. Copy my care procedures and you will have happy feet and happy socks. And you will save a lot of money.
