A good product well packaged in a plastic case with 2 pipettes, cloth, instructions and screw driver. Very easy to calibrate, I have yet to test on sugar or beer wort solutions. Easy to use and to clean and far less likely to stir up sediment than high volume type hydrometers.

Cheap and cheerful, I've checked this against my hydrometer and it seems accurate enough. I've even used used it with alcohol present and use the conversion tables and it still seem to give accurate results when compared to my hydrometer, very happy.

Service was second to none and the refractometer is absolutely just what I wanted ! You can’t beat the price either ! Really good value, soooo pleased I got this one.

Arrived quickly and really simple to use. I have previously used a hydrometer and sometimes I struggled to see the reading dependant of what was floating on the top of the liquid. It’s all in the past now as this provides a clear easy to read scale.

Measured my wort OG at 1.068 with my trusty hydrometer. Thought I'd purchase this refractometer to avoid fuss/mess/wastage involved with hydrometer, and hopefully get a more accurate reading. Arrived quickly. Calibrated with distilled water, placed a drop of wort on the glass, no air bubbles, and waited for temperatures to equalise as per the instructions. Got a reading of 1.035. Thought strange as the fermentation looked to be finished. Tested with hydrometer and got 1.010. Tested the next day and got exactly the same respective readings. I’d expect readings between the two methods may not be exactly the same, but 0.025 difference is unacceptable IMO. Emailed Gainexpress to query. They replied quickly (which was good of them) and received the following reply: ‘We have received an answer from the factory. The glass hydrometer's principle is the buoyancy of liquids. While the principle of the refractometer is the refraction of light. It is impossible that these 2 different meters can have the same readings and the readings must not be compared.' Hmmm...Enough said! I'll be returning the refractometer for a refund.

Ottimo! Pratico, funzionale e senza necessità di pile (finalmente!) Utilissimo per il controllo della percentuale di sale nelle salamoie, al fine di evitare problemi, come il botulismo. Percentuale salina rilevata su una scala che va ben oltre quella di sicurezza. (max 28% di sale). Facile da usare con qualunque tipo di normale illuminazione (certamente non quelle colorate). Necessaria una prima semplice taratura con acqua distillata.
