Glad they still make these
I'm glad Amazon had this. This will be the 3rd one of these I've bought for what is now my 3rd cat. I got one of these 30 years ago for my first cat, and he loved it. 14 years later the 2nd cat loved it too. These toys don't last forever, but I view this toy as a right of passage for all my cats. Now just to be clear, you might want to know that the mouse will hang about 28 to 29 inches off of the floor. That means tiny little kittens aren't going to be playing with this thing right away. Once they get a little older, they'll start jumping at this thing, and occasionally sink a claw or two into it. When that happens, this thing is gonna slingshot, so make sure there are no breakables within range. Be forewarned: You are going to start hearing that little mouse chirp at all hours of the day and night. So the good news is, you will never need to replace the battery. Rest assured, kitten is gonna get your money's worth out of it. Once the kitten gets closer to full size, they will either lean against the door or just stand up on their hind legs to bat at the mouse. They might even bite it and play "tug" with it, but eventually the string is gonna break. You might be able to fix it a couple of times, but once the plastic part snaps, kitty's favorite toy will be no more. Sometimes I wish the string was just a little bit longer so the smaller kittens can start playing with it sooner, but they grow up so fast it's probably best the string isn't that long, and it's a bittersweet hope that I won't need to buy another one for another 14 to 20 years.

Best toy ever for my cat!
****Update**** We are now on purchase number 5. My cat LOVES THIS TOY TO DEATH!!! Totally worth the money for the entertainment and love this brings my baby. I will continue to buy them until they are sadly no more. Invest in some super glue....get inventive, honestly we don’t even hang the hanger anymore, we just let the stick part hang at the top and close the door to hold it in place and he goes to town with it. I would recommend to check the stitching after a little as it does like to pull apart, but nothing a quick extra stitch or two won’t fix. The mouse has provided so much fun for him. So yes, it’s cheap, it breaks, but it’s worth it. Especially when he plays with this over an expensive toy he refuses to even touch (and I CANT bring it back because of restrictions from this virus so I have a $25 door stop). Stick broke the first week we got it. Thankfully we bought a second one for a different doorway and was able to use that one...which was difficult to keep stick in place, but nothing a little super glue didn't fix. And it likes to untie itself. (Couldn't do that to the other one) We bought this to replace the same thing as before. That brown mouse is his best buddy and carries it around and plays fetch with it. We will still buy this toy since its our kitty's absolute favorite, just wish it held up better.

Entertainment for Hours - A bit delicate
Cats absolutely love this toy! The way it bounces when they let go of it keeps the fun never ending. I’ve had success with this toy for kittens, lazy house cats, and stray cats outside as well. The most recent one I purchased did not hold up very long before being ripped open. That is the one downside I have found but I am hoping this was a one off issue as my previous purchases have not ripped

Our cat’s favorite toy. No question.
So, the first day we mounted this over a door, our cat spent nearly an hour playing with it. Quite a hit! Then it broke. But he kept playing with just the mouse part so I bought another and now I drag it around the house every morning and evening during playtime. He never gets tired of it. In fact, when the pantry (where the toys are stored) door is open, he goes straight for the mouse toy. I also like that the string its connected with is stretchy. We have several wands with no give in the string. The stretch in this toy seems to make the tugs-of-war a bit gentler for the cat. UPDATE (Mar 2021): We rotate toys, but our cat still seems to love this toy the most. We buy a new one every month so he has several stashed around the house (we cut off the string so the mouse part is free) and we get a kick out of him if we happen to hear chirping from various places in the house.

Cheap and it chirps constantly
I have two playful Bengals, so I figured I'd get them a new door toy to help burn off some energy. Installation was easy, the "fishing pole" part is inserted into a slot on the base and you twist to lock it in place. Then it mounts over the top of a door. The mouse dangles at about 2/3 of the way down a standard door frame. And it will occasionally chirp when its being batted around. Within 4 hours the fishing pole had already snapped. I tired the end of the strong to a metal frame on the door from an old hanging cat tree, and the cats still enjoyed it. But within a day of that, the string holding the toy was broken. I tied the ends of the broken string together to let them continue playing with it, and then the chirping that the mouse does would start going off for long periods of time from the slightest touch. But would eventually settle down. 3 days later, the chirping began again without it being touched, and even after attempting various methods of making it stop chirping, it wouldn't stop. I allowed it to go for 12 hours straight just to see if it would before I ended up having to throw it in the garbage (where it still was chirping loudly) because it was preventing myself and my cats from being able to sleep, even when it was put in a box inside a closet. I've had similar door frame fishing toys in the past, and they all break, but I've never had one break the first day it was hung, including one we bought at a pet store for about $4 in the past. On top of that, the cheap toy who's chirping mechanism can't be turned off, I can't recommend this product.

Consider a place to hook before purchasing
As the title suggests, before you buy this think about where you can actually hook it up. I was like, I'm sure I'll find something. Item arrived, tried a few things, places. Tried taping it, etc. No suitable place in my house. Finally placed it somewhere temporarily. So i can tell you it's durable. The toy squaks as promised. Of the places i thought of, the rope came short or the plastic part didn't hang out enough. Rope is pressed, so you're pretty much unable to remove it. You can cut it, but at that point you're better off not buying it. Return period over. So I'm stuck with it. Not recommended. Buy the squeaky mouse by itself... 5 star because it is as promised. It's just not suitable for me...

Squeaker stops working after one month
I purchased this item on December 4, 2018 for my brand new kitten. The product arrived a few days later and she was absolutely elated. This is, and has been her favorite toy ever since I hung it up and showed her what to do. She plays with this toy day and night, all day, and all night. 3am, midnight, as soon as I get home from working a 12 hour shift, on the weekend when I think I'm going to sleep in...I constantly hear the "squeak, squeak, squeak, and thud, thud, thud as she jumps her heart out playing with this toy. Last week, I came home from my normal 12-14 hour shift and she did her normal, "yeah mommy is home, it's play time!" she did a running jump and leap, hit the toy and nothing. Her and I were both stunned and we had this weird human/cat moment where we exchanged glances and at least one of us did a Scooby Doo "Ruh?" The squeak was not there. My kitten jumped again hoping that she just was so excited that she missed the beautiful sound of a protest from her toy that she hit the mark. Nope. Nothing. I went over and gave it a small whack myself because this toy is so sensitive (at least I hope that's what it was), I would walk past to get a glass of water and it would start chirping like I stole something. Again, nothing happened. So needless to say that one month after purchasing the product, the squeak no longer works. My adorable little kitten...no longer plays with the toy. So it hangs there wasting away doing nothing. I gave it two starts because she did get one month of play out of it.

The added noise feature is really great. Cheap product but worth it
Cat loves it. Hanging on the bedroom door and she attacks it afew times a day. Due to it's height when she does grab hold if it, it will shoot off back up again. The added noise feature is really great. Cheap product but worth it.

Voller Erfolg. Sport für Kater und Frauchen
Toll, voller Erfolg. Sport für Kater und Frauchen. Hurra, endlich etwas gefunden, was Flori wirklich fasziniert. Gummi hält Kater-Attacken aus. NACHTRAG: Leider ist nach ca. 2 Wochen die Maus abgerissen, ein paar Tage später ist die kleine Plastikstange abgebrochen.

Amazing toy, amazing value!
This toy is amazing! Bought it for my kitten, but my old cat (10-years-old) absolutely loved it! She plays with it probably 8-10hours a day. The first one lasted us 5 months with her using it as much as she does, then the squeaker ran out and my poor little kitty got depressed so, because they're fairly inexpensive, we ordered 2 more, and she loves them just as much! The only thing I was kind of peeved about is that the elastic string is not long enough to hang off the top of a standard-sized door, so I have to hang it 3/4 the way up the door in order for my cat to reach it. And because of this, it catches on the door frame when you open / close the door so you have to hold it out of the way as to not mark up your doorframe. Other than that, I would and have recommended this toy to anyone and everyone who owns a cat young or old!

My cats LOVE LOVE LOVE theses however...
These are extremely fun for my cats. They're 7 months only right now. My last cat was gifted one and loved it also. It's meant to clip onto the top of a door and volia! Your cats are going to be jumping, grabbing at that and it's going to be squeaking with every wack. It's very hilarious. So the design of the rod in my opinion needs to be lower. You can't close your door with where it is positions currently and so your cats as they get into it will pull on it and it will fly over the door onto the other side or get wrapped up and then you get the angry meows and you have to come fix it which if you're working from home is distracting. It ALSO means it's likely to get broken when someone forgets that's it's on there and shuts the door. So I've bought a few of these. One I've hung off of the cat tower. They love this. It had a flaw in the string so I had to shorten it anyways. One we had to write to Amazon about because it would not stop squeaking from the moment the plastic piece was pulled out. (Cats even got annoyed) but the replacements worked perfectly. Overall they have a great stretch which is fantastic fun for the cats. Not so durable to humans but very durable to cats!
