LUNAR REMASTERED COLLECTION is a must buy!
This is a most excellent remaster of two classic role playing games from the 90s. Everything that a fan of retro games could want is here. LUNAR REMASTERED COLLECTION is beautifully presented, and itโs all available for a surprisingly low price. What you get here are two epic RPGs; LUNAR SILVER STAR STORY and LUNAR 2 ETERNAL BLUE. Both games are presented in either HD Remastered form, or in their original format from the PlayStation One. The original games came out on the SEGA CD back in 1993, and 1995. But the PlayStation releases is where these games really shined. This new remaster is based on the PS One versions of the games. Both games look positively beautiful on the Nintendo Switch. In โdockedโ mode, we get wonderful topdown views of fantastic pixel art. Playing in handheld mode, these games are simply stunning. The graphics look very smooth in 720p without the need of any kind of filter. Everything is crisp, and clear, which is very good for the dialogue boxes as the story unfolds. The anime cutscenes are incredible, as is the music that accompany them. While the voices have all been re-recorded, the singing seems to be exactly as it was on the PS One release. If anyone knows, the animation and the music was given the 5-star treatment of a Disney, or Studio Ghibli film when these games came out. Everything is preserved with the highest level of quality intact. For those that played these games on SEGA CD or PlayStation One, it might throw you off a bit to hear the voices are not the original actors. However, the new voices are extremely well acted and it sounds like the same level of care from the old versions was taken in this update, so you are getting top quality. If I didnโt already know better, it would not surprise me if someone told me these were brand new Nintendo Switch RPGs. They look tailor made for the Switch and are well worth the price. LUNAR REMASTERED COLLECTION is a top notch release. Any fan of role playing games owes it to themselves to get this title. Whether you are new to the series, or you are returning to LUNAR, this is a canโt miss. For RPG fans, for anime fans, for classic game fans, this one is highly recommended! *Edit 5/2/2025* Please forgive my initial statement of this collection being offered at a โsurprisingly low price.โ I was, of course, referring to the MSRP on launch day, and considering the digital release. Since April 18th, 2025, if you are lucky enough to find a physical release, it seems that the asking price has been hiked substantially. Lunar Remastered Collection has become difficult to find, so take that into consideration. That being said, as a collectorโs piece, this title is highly sought after. Expect it to be worth a great deal in the future, just as the PlayStation One and SEGA CD versions are very valuable today. Does that justify the higher asking price? In my opinion, as a collector, I would say so. Thereโs a reason these games are always worth a great deal. Lunar is more than a great couple of games. Lunar is special. Games like these two come along so seldom. No matter how you do it, find a way to play them. They are truly wonderful.

Two Classic RPGs in one collection!
These are basically ports of the Playstation 1 versions of Lunar 1 and 2 but have been remastered to look better on modern HD screens. They also have a "classic" version that has less smoothed out graphics and look pixelated on an HDTV. These games use the original Working Designs translations with a few minor changes. So, expect a lot of late 90's humor that only makes sense if you grew up in the 90s and early 2000s. Two great classic RPGs in one collection, you can't go wrong!

A well done remaster of 2 masterpieces. Worth every penny!
Those complaining about no preorders and game is sold out, Gungho has announced more copies are on the way. If you're going to review an item, then review the item. Your anger is valid, but review bombing isn't the answer. The "Collector's Edition" that some influencers got are NOT CEs, they're called press kits. Very common practice in the industry. Stop spreading misinformation. Again, "write a review," not "tell us how you feel about the publisher and complain you didn't get something that doesn't exist." My review: a good remaster of 2 masterful games. So far, I've only played part of this Lunar 2 remaster and have noticed some odd changes... 1. Some in-game event scenes that were voiced on the PS1 original are not voiced at all here in the remaster. 2. Buying new equips at a shop, the new item doesn't tell you how it changes your stats. There's only a grey up arrow or a red down arrow. You have to actually buy the item and then equip it to see how your stats were changed. Very odd. PS1 original showed you the stat changes before buying the item. I've searched the net and nobody is talking about this change. ? 3. Jean no longer says "gypsy magic" when using magic. It's been replaced with "wanna dance?" I guess for fear of somebody being offended by the word "gypsy"? Odd change. Voice actors are all new. I really wanted the original English voices, but to my surprise, the new ones are not terrible. Zophar actually sounds better now. In the original, his voice effects sometimes made it hard to hear some words. I still prefer the original voices. I hope they're patched into the game so we have the option of old or new voices. Graphics look good for the most part. The anime scenes look better than the originals. No artifacts, very crisp and clear Unrelated gripe: my PS4 version arrived with the disc loose in the box. Not cool.

Two of the best ever RPGs, in excellent form
This collection of two classic RPGs beautifully upscales the cutscenes, improves inventory management, and adds the ability to speed up battles. These games have otherwise held up perfectly, and played back to back provide an excellent ramp-up in challenge and two unique narratives. The writing is still fun and lively in a way that even modern, polished translations canโt match, the characters are all unique and memorable, and the music is still is as catchy as ever. Itโs disappointing the original voice overs werenโt used, though for the most part the new cast does an excellent job, so new players wonโt find much to take issue with. Still, it wouldโve been nice if GungHo had cooperated with Working Designs to give the option of selecting the original voices, and provide all the extras and behind the scenes included in the original versions. But those are minor complaints and no reason to pass up the on these incredible games. For me, the Lunar series has always been the gaming equivalent of comfort food or rainy day films - theyโre always wonderful to return to when you need an escape to a magical and exciting world. I hope this collection helps bring Lunar to new audiences, as theyโre really quite special games.

Translation fixed
I am a lunar fan since the Sega cd days. I own every Lunar game that came to the US and was waiting for a collections like this just wish the PSP version was included too. It has the PS1 remake and original versions included with new translations. Working Designs restricted certain translations from being used but the new translation adds a more serious tone and more straight forward. As a fan I knew playing this on anything but switch would not be as fun I was right. They are showing their age in terms of game design it feels a little anachronistic. I expected that but the colors short load times and good fps make this good on switch 1 but great on Switch 2. If you like JRPGโs and donโt mind some old style gameplay you will enjoy this. I wanted to wait a little longer to purchase it but physical games are getting scarce so I bought it. It is as good as I wanted it to be still just as fun as when I played both in 1995.

Love the Lunar series and this is a great way to play!
I played the original Lunar games on Sega CD way back in the day and this is a faithful representation of those games. It looks great and its very cool to experience the Lunar games once again! If you're a fan of old school Japanese RPG style games, look no further than this duo. Grinding XP, fighting difficult bosses, it's all here! Pick this up and you won't be disappointed!

Classic JRPG Brought Back to Life! GUNGHO PRINTING MORE COPIES!
Ignore the reviews that are completely ignoring the actual game. Lunar dates back to the early 90s, it's a miracle that a company was interested in bringing it back. GungHo brought back a niche RPG and gave it new life. Wondering about restocks? Just read GungHo's media outlets: more copies are coming! They will continue to print more copies until there is no more demand. Just be patient. Buy it digital to show your interest and show that there's a strong demand for releases like Lunar. Lunar Remastered Collection has a few modern improvements, although some more could have been done to streamline and improve the experience. You can modify CPU behavior, combined inventory system, battle speed increments, Japanese and English VO, remastered mode, and classic mode. The overall games remain largely the same with a fun combat system and intriguing story. Watch gameplay and give Lunar a chance! You will be pleasantly surprised.

WONDERFUL stories in a wonderful collection
First off, I am infinitely grateful that this game collection was made possible. The Lunar Series has been on my mind for a while, but since I no longer have a PS1 or Sega CD, I cannot play them in any way or form, that is, until now. I managed to order mine in time to get it just a few days after its release, and I couldn't be happier. First of all, these two Lunar games are pretty simple, but so much fun and have such wonderful stories. Simplicity can really go a long way. It's your basic turn-based J-RPG with some tactics thrown into the mix, but the gameplay remains quite simple and fun. You have number of moves that increase (not much) as you level up, number of attacks, magic and skills, defense, power and health. You must fight enemies and keep your characters alive long enough to gain experience from each fight, and level up so you can have an easier time playing through. Sounds simple, but in the beginning, enemies are numerous and relentless, and while the games ARE balanced, the sheer number of enemies can easily overwhelm your small party, ESPECIALLY on Lunar 2's beginning areas. But if you use your magi right, you can take down a number of enemies at once with the right skill or spell, though in the beginning, you'll be lucky if you can take one down in one hit, be it with magic or normal attacks. Controls are solid and responsive, music and sound effects are beautiful, gameplay mechanics are still holding up well to these days despite being so simple, and the stories on both games (I like Lunar 2's more) are simply wonderful, though admittedly they are pretty common these days, in the way things develop. The new voice actors do a FANTASTIC job of recapturing the essence of the original two Lunar games, and I honestly like some of the characters' new voices better now, but that is all in the eyes/ears of the beholder. You can play the game's classic modes, or you can go for the new remastered modes, though I honestly prefer the new stuff as it makes things feel more fresh. The animated cutscenes could have used a better job of making them wide screen, however, considering they are from the PS1 era remastered to look cleaner and sharper, I understand why they cannot widen them without needing to put in more work, and to be fair, it would have been a gamble of odds without knowing if the games would be received well... which they WERE. Never the less, I HIGHLY recommend these games, even to new players of the series, as they are very enjoyable.

Must have
This is a must for any RPG fan, i played this game as a child in 1999 and had forgotten about it. The highly detailed enemies, while you are a little chibi potato is so charming, i feel 12 years old again.

Great port. Price seems too high.
It's lunar remastered of the PS1. They did a good job. Not as good as the PSP Silver Harmony but still a great game to have in your collection.
