## Description

Rev-A-Shelf's redesigned Two-Tier baskets make other 2-shelf units fail in comparison. With the heavy gage construction, ball-bearing slides on both baskets, and multiple mounting points this is the best two-tier unit on the market. With 100lb slides on each basket you don't have to worry about overloading or bending. Multiple sized width and depths are available, so you are sure to find the exact unit that fits your exact cabinet size. Optimize the performance, by adding the optional door mount kit to add a truly one-step opening/closing process (sold separately - 5WB-DMKIT)

Review: I just finished installing these in seven of our kitchen cabinets as icing on the kitchen remodel cake. Really tired of getting down on the floor to pull out the heavy mixer or juicer from the back in the bottom of a dark cabinet. Pros: Nice chrome finish and fairly sturdy. I would have preferred the Rev-A Shelf birch wood units but too expensive for our budget. These are reasonable in comparison. Assembly of the unit is about 10 minutes. Cons: Installation took a couple hours for the first one. Maybe 20-30 minutes for each additional unit. Some things were not obvious. See tips below. Several assembly screws easily snapped off. Glad there were extras. My experience: The units are 1/2" smaller than the cabinet opening. I ordered for an 18"w cabinet opening and the unit is 17.5"w. That allows for clearance for protruding door hinges. The instructions said to mount the unit away from the door hinges (off center in the cabinet) which leaves a 1/2" gap on the hinge side. That side just stands in the air unattached or anchored. Being off center bothered me. I would need to add some kind of blocking to move the units to a centered position. In my case I also ordered the door mounts to convert the doors from hinged to a pull out configuration. That's where my confusion started. The door mount brackets were off center from the doors position directly below the drawer because the units were installed off center. I didn't have enough door frame to mount the door that off center. There are round discs (spacers) included with the door mount bracket kits that will allow you to move the brackets left or right but it looked odd to me. I realized that I could use the round discs (spacers) to center the whole unit by using the spacers in between the unit frame and the door frame on either side. The four spacers provided at the four front anchor points. I had to provide longer screws to make this work. The result was a centered unit in the cabinet opening with a centered door pull. See pictures of the spacer positions. Tips: 1. Hand tighten the assembly screws. They snapped easily with a screw gun, even with the drag set low. 2: If you are installing the door brackets (separate kit) use the spacers to center your unit in the cabinet opening rather than off center. See pictures 3: Install the drawers so that you are sure the brackets that attach to the back of the cabinet are truly parallel and won't bind the drawer slides. Mark the holes, remove the drawers and mount the rear brackets. Then attach the unit to the bottom/base with the four screws provided. 4: Mounting the door to the brackets: Attach the brackets to the bottom drawer. Tighten the screws just until the brackets stay in place but can still move if pushed with some force. Apply the the double stick tape to the bracket faces. Pull the drawer slightly so that it just sticks out beyond the cabinet face. Line up the door panel under the drawer face right to left and also the door top down from the bottom of the drawer face. Press firmly in toward the brackets so that the brackets adjust from the pressure and the double stick tape adheres to the door panel.. Carefully open the door/drawer and attach the screws. Note: The instructions said to face the brackets outward. This did not work for our doors so we turned them inward.
Review: We installed Rev.A.Self in our old home of 25 years. We moved recently and just ordered them as a MUST have for our new home. Say goodbye to bending, lifting, and searching for items in your cabinets. Strong, well made, ample storage for any size cabinet.

*by S***H on 6 November 2024*

We've lusted after a very similar set in my son's home ever since we moved into our small cottage. One of the base cabinets had a not-even-half shelf, and otherwise open space - perhaps useful for storing really tall stuff, but a real nuisance when I'd have to get on the floor to see, let alone reach, the barbeque tools we used to store there on that half-shelf. Used to, as we now have one of these awesome 2-drawer units. Initially, the dimensions of the face-mounted door, based on the installation instructions we reviewed before ordering, suggested we'd have to get a significantly smaller set. However, Rev-A-Shelf has a wonderful customer service system, and, after some back-and-forth, I asked for some engineer drawings, as my sense of the situaton thought we could use the larger size. In fact, I didn't even have to chisel one side to accommodate the sliders (the hardware into which the drawers are inserted and on which they ride as they are pulled or pushed); instead, I was able to install it virtually identically to the way the smaller set would have been used. The trick was to insert the "U" supports BEFORE attaching the slides (if you appear to "ALMOST" have enough width, ask for an engineer drawing of your unit, which will show you the exact dimensions/space-required), and then attach the slides on the away-from-the-door-hinges face frame before mounting the "U"s to the bottom of the cabinet, and then taking careful measurements of the distance from the not-hinge cabinet side on the part you'd attached to the face, and the part you'll attach to the back of the cabinet, keeping the slide exactly parallel to the cabinet side wall. Once those are fixed, the rest falls into place. Unless, as was the case with ours, along the way in the shipping, the mounting points on one of the slides had compressed (the proper view of those mount points is to have it slightly outside the plane of the side of the slide. I didn't notice that until I'd secured the rest of the slides and the other rear mounting point, and the mounting "U"s. That resulted in a VERY stiffly sliding drawer. So, I measured everything again. AHA! The affected slide set was marginally too wide. A judicious pry at the mounting points on the too-narrow slide, to make the spread-dimensions of both sets of slides alike (in my case, the top moved easily; it was the left side of the bottom which had been affected), and immediately it moved silkily. My speculation is that it got compressed during shipping and handling, as all the slides were mounted into the drawers during transit. So, if you happen to find that one of your sliders is stiff, do the measurement check. As it had nothing to do with the manufacturer, I didn't downgrade the stars. In fact, we're starstruck, so to speak. We're extremely happy we have this installed and loaded down. One drawer was absolutely perfect-fit for our indoor grill air fryer/barbeque appliance, and the other is now loaded up with all those previously inaccessible (well, a nuisance to get to) barbeque tools. I was already over the moon from having seen my son's. I'm still up there ☺
