When I went to cut a quiche with one, the blade flexed left and right. If this is how they cut something soft, how could they stand up to anything of real substance. So back they went. Henckels has really gone downhill. They used to be high quality, but this set was so thin as to be useless. After buying cheaper knives for years, I finally invested in a good quality set. The color of the block is rich and I really like it. My only "issue" is that the base is about 15 inches long from the front end to where the the slots are for the knives to go in plus the distance to the end of the knife handles. (About 19 inches altogether) I don't put them in the dishwasher because a sales rep from Henckels told me to never put sharp knives in the dishwasher. My old knives wound up with rust spots on them.
