This will not work on an iPad or an iPhone. It requires a PC.

Has anyone experienced their laptop/pc going to blue screen with a loud hum when this product is plugged in? mine did this plugged into a laptop.

yes this does but it might depend on your software. I can see moving location and speed while driving using MS streets.

WIll this work with MapPoint?

It is supposed to work with MapPoint, But I have heard from many users that there are issues, and with MS no longer supporting either mapping program, it's a shot in the dark as to whether or not it will work for you.
