COSTWAY 18,000 BTU Mini Split Air Conditioner,
Bought this in August of 2024. Have used it steadily for 1.5 years now. Cools and heats a 900sqft open shop. It does a good job. I have not had any issues with it what-so ever. Installation was not too hard. The Install direction are just okay - but I managed. My unit is 208-240V. For the cost - it was really a bargain. I would recommend to anyone that is a DIY type person. Having a HVAC tech install it would have really upped the affordability. So far - it has been a good unit. My thanks to the supplier/vendor for the reasonable price and quick shipping.

Recommended -- would buy again.
Works flawlessly, rapidly cools 20'X40' w/12' ceiling bedroom and maintains temp with no problem. I seldom run it below 73F but tested down to 69F. Texas hasn't gotten over a 100F yet this year, but not expecting it to struggle to maintain temp. Well packaged, well reinforced internally to prevent damage -- zero shipping damage -- this is extremely important. Purchased another brand (starts and ends with T) that was very poorly packaged/fell apart and missing parts, worried if it was going to work. Can't hear outside unit when in use, indoor unit could be a little quieter but still very quiet (I'm looking for absolute silence when sleeping). Came with everything you need to install. This is an unsolicited review -- I absolutely hate Vine reviews.

Costway got 2 out of 3 right and fixed the third!
Bought the 12,000 btu in January for a renovated 460 sq ft garage apartment. It’s May and still going. Be sure and clean the filter frequently. Super quiet. Works like a champ! My a/c guy originally said to get Mr. Cool, but has changed his tune. Now prefers these a lot. Charged us $400 to put it in. We already had the electrical in place because my son’s an electrician. Very affordable home improvement. Simple to operate. We bought two more, one for the 385 sq ft master bedroom, same BTU’s cause it’s the west side of an older home, and a 9,000 BTU for our 160 sq foot music shed. That one arrived without a filter cover. Called Costway customer service. Kathy was friendly even while sick. They sent cover. Took about 10 days. Finally got to turn on the shed’s mini split. Then after a week it wasn’t cooling. A/C guy came and charged the line. May have a leak in the line set. Not sure yet. Should know before too long. They didn’t find one. He said Costway would send another unit if it stops cooling again. It might be in the blower area the a/c man said. Even with the inconvenience, it’s been relatively painless overall considering the cost of the mini splits. Highly recommend.

Absolutely worth every penny. Don't get fooled by being one of the "cheapest" units.
It has performed great for a couple of months. I was concern that the noise from the outside unit would be high because we set it right outside on our bedroom . To my surprise, the outside unit is almost silent. We've had multiple 100+ degree weather almost all month and the unit has preformed great! we keep it at 74. Anything lower makes the room too cold, yep is that good. The only downside, is the remote. The instructions are not very clear specially when trying to set the timer. That is is the only down side. But other than that, we are very happy with the purchase so far. Installation was standard, meaning nothing different from every other unit, brand or size. For the installation you will multiple additional tools. but again, this goes for every other unit regardless of the brand etc. The air flow form the inside unit is great. The noise is similar to an standard fan. Overall, very happy with the quality of the unit.

Works good
I bought the 18k 21 seer unit. It works great, nice and quiet, easy to install. I would give it five stars. However the remote t-stat is not accurate, I have to set it at 84 degrees do it to maintain 76 in the space I'm cooling. no instructions on how to use the remote. Also the circulating fan on the inside unit doesn’t cycle off. I’m using this unit to cool my garage while I’m out there, so no big deal. However!!!

Short lived
This unit was fairly easy to install, though you will need a vacuum pump to install it. It heats and cools very effectively. I have two big complaints about it though. Firstly it is extremely inaccurate about what the room temperature is. It will be set to cool to 70 but it will not decide it is 70 until a thermometer on the other side of the room is reading about 63. This is extremely annoying because you have to babysit it or else the room will be about 10 degrees warmer or colder than you want it. Second off the app to control this thing is absolutely garbage. It refused to let me create an account I had to have someone else set it up. It is also such a no name app that the only function it surfaces through Google Home is turning the unit on and off. No temp or mode controls totally worthless. It also does not support Home Assistant with a lot of bridges and hackery to make it work. Overall consider finding a better unit. *UPDATE* a few months later the unit is now constantly throwing the P5 code which seems to be related to over temp protection when heating. Checking the indoor unit with a IR thermometer shows the fins are only about 75f so definitely not over heating. Definitely spend your money elsewhere.

Awesome unit.
The install and set up was a breeze due to the detailed instructions and it has a video walk through instructions as well. I love the unit and it performed perfectly until the schraeder valve, used for pulling a vacuum, failed leaking the R32 refrigerant Freon out slowly causing the unit to quit heating or cooling due to low refrigerant. I’m in contact with cost way now trying to resolve the issue. I do not blame the manufacturer because it is a small valve that is common failure point on all units not just theirs.

Affordable cooling!
I was skeptical, being my first mini split I figured I'd try the economic friendly choice and I'm not disappointed! 18k btu runs quietly and nicely. The air smells clean too. It took 30 minutes to cool down my 750 sqft, the liquid line has a little bit of sweat going into the outside unit so I let it cool into the next room. It's seriously pumping the heat out of there too! The unit is quite modern inside and the outdoor has a neat blue fan "like mr cool" If you run into the problem of not holding a vacuum after you pull for about 30 minutes don't worry... Go back over your brass to copper fittings and treat them like you're finishing machine threads with lock washers then proceed with 1/8 to 1/4 turn and you can feel the copper mash "flatter" seating around the brass, then when it begins to resist you are finished. After doing this technique I had a -30 for 30 minutes in isolation "gauges closed" from unit. With everything connected and gauges closed I then unleashed the liquid line "thin" and backed off to the metal rings, no further. It made some whooshing momentarily, after that stopped I unleashed the suction "thick" line, it sounded like a hollow space evacuating. Now it was time to back off my blue line from the gauges connected to the service port. Give it half a turn off and make sure the next turn is a full one, as to not leak too much r32 out. After that you're good to go! Thanks a buch CostWay, highly anticipating the installation of your 18kbtu 19seer

Great units and support
I'm speaking on two units I just installed over the past two weeks so this isn't a full "reliability over time" review. As described, the units arrived in two boxes each (the indoor unit with it's bits in one box and the other bits in the outdoor box). Since the units are economically priced and the performance ratings seem quite good, and I only need heat in the shoulder seasons before I switch to full on wood heat (vs the $$$ electric forced air), they seemed to fit the bill. The heating comment is based on the notes that these will work down to -10C (14F). I don't know if that means the units will cease to work or if they will lose efficiency, time will tell. With all that, I decided to do the install myself. Here is where you learn about vacuum pumps, gauges and oil (another ~$200), electrical cutoffs, codes, etc. Did my research before I ordered and the work involved seemed to be straight forward, including running 12/2 wire and conduit (and a new breaker / etc). Following various install videos and a chat with an HVAC buddy of mine, I quickly determined the best approach and took it, and here's what I learned: - the 2" hole required is going to be a tight fit, so when wrapping with the vinyl, make it tight. If one goes larger than 2", note that the wall cap cover isn't going to fit (as it's 2") and the larger hole will require more filling. - the drain hole in the bottom of the outdoor unit is 25 mm, and if you cannot drain directly out, you will need some extras for it (note the size). I installed my units onto a wood deck so I didn't want the water just running wherever so I did this bit of extra, and here is where you need to know the size, which is in the manual - One has to remove all the plastic protective shipping covering from the indoor head to get the tape off, which has to be done to install the com wire. Make sure to take care when handling afterwards to not mark up the plastic. Once the connections were made, line sets torqued to spec, vacuumed for 15 minutes and vacuum leak checked via gauge, everything in place and electrics connected, only then I opened the valves to release the R32 gas and pressure checked all the fittings again for leaks ( with a 50/50 soapy water solution). Verifying no leaks, time to throw the power. LEDs lit up and with some batteries in the remote, I had the unit pumping out heat within minutes of turning on the main power. The units so far work as planned. The heat stability in the house is better than ever (haven't had to cool with them yet, may update after next summer). They are very quiet, even the outdoor units are near impossible to hear inside, and outside it's mostly a whirring fan sound. Now, why the support comment? One outdoor unit arrived in a damaged box, which I didn't notice until after the delivery guy was long gone. When I opened the box, I noticed that the unit had a considerable dent on the business end (connectors / electrics / control unit). I contacted Costway via the Amazon contact process, complete with explanation and photos of the box and the unit, and in less than 24 hours they had a new outdoor unit on it's way. If I could complain about anything it would be the nearly two weeks to wait for the new unit (same time to get the original one). However as I was not intending to install them right away (and I had one good unit to install currently) and Costway DID CHECK to see if the time to receive it was OK, and it was so I'm not faulting anyone. So far so good, and time will tell. At this stage I'm recommending my friends and family to consider these units as I now know what is involved for the install, and they work well (they are quiet and throws heat, cooling shouldn't be an issue, and reasonable to install with what's provided).

Nice Unit with Great Price
Purchased this unit for Basement seems quiet so far.I had this professionally installed by my buddy that does this for a living. keep in mind it will cost roughly another 1000 to have it installed unless you can do it yourself which I don’t recommend.
