5/8-Inch DIY Pool Fence Hammer Drill Guide with Bubble Level

Worked great for putting up safety fence around pool. Handy tool to have especially for sloped concrete.

This drill guide was shipped without the metal sleeve REQUIRED, to keep the drill centered in the bearings correctly. The metal sleeve is clearly shown in the videos for using it. All-Safe REFUSES to correct this, and ships the product with bearings only installed. Leaving a 3mm clearance between bearing and drill clearance diameter. Which is way too sloppy for a good hole

I'm a handyman by trade, and I had a bunch of holes to drill to install a safety fence around a customer's pool. I have a heavy duty hammer drill to do the job, but I know it can be a little imprecise by hand, so I decided to pick up this guide. It essentially turned my handheld drill into a drill press. I was able to move hole to hole with ease, using the bubble level to ensure the holes are drilled true for each post. It worked without issues for installing 80' of perimeter fencing. The guide seems very well made from heavy gauge welded steel, and the shaft guide bearing was a nice touch. It more than paid for itself on this one job, but I know it's going to come in handy again sometime soon.

We purchased a pool fence without the drill guide originally and it was really awkward to keep the drill upright at a 90-degree angle when installing the pegs. Now that we have this, it is much easier to drill the holes and feel confident that they are going in straight.

This drill jig is really durable and the size is right to do the job. Makes the job a lot safer and easier to do. Must be patient and give your drill a break since you are drilling 4" deep.

Says Tobias a 5/8” drill bit but the hole is significantly larger so it doesn’t guide correctly and holes aren’t at the correct angles. Pretty much defeats the purpose of this.

This thing is huge, and way bigger than I realized it would be. That’s a good thing, though, because you need a tool that can handle the 18” drill bit you need for this job. I used this guide to put up safety fencing between the pool, and the construction area where they are building the pool house. It worked like a charm, even for a novice like me. Watch out for one thing: there are wing nuts on the sides that will come loose after drilling for a while. I didn’t realize it, and ended up with a diagonal hole on about the tenth hole I drilled. So keep an eye on those nuts and tighten them regularly. Otherwise, it worked out great, and I am glad I had it.

I need to drill into concrete but it scares me. So I’m using this to make sure the drill doesn’t skitter away and poke out my eye or something. Not as heavy as expected…but I guess it doesn’t need to be since you’re supposed to stand on it. Nonetheless, it’s very strong welded metal I’ve no doubt will serve its purpose. It looks like it’s supposed to be bolted down…but that seems unnecessary for my purposes and those bolts are removable.
